To the OP- not sure if it was mentioned I didn't read the entire thread, but when I bought my deuce I met the guy at the local fairgrounds where he lived, drove my jeep into the back of my newly acquired deuce using the dirt livestock ramp, then drove home almost 500 miles. Used my local...
Oh man I wish I could go, but it would have to be just about any other time than that weekend unfortunately. Sandpoint has a 50's car show every year and the deuce always gets a lot of attention, especially when the back is full of people. Maybe one year if you continue to hold these events...

Ok, try that link. Great idea to use youtube. I don't usually post many pics or videos so the process is new to me. Yeah, it was definitely 2nd low. The sled pull people had a drone flying around shooting video, and they said they should have all the videos up...
Running all stock ndt's. I'm trying to upload a vid but haven't been successful yet. From the vid it is obvious I am goi g to run out of power quickly.
I decided to do a sled pull last night. Deuce is stock except for a Hurst T handle shifter which adds at least 20 hp lol. First pull was in 2nd gear low range, only made it 151 ft before running out of power. Crowd loved it tho. Second pull was 1st gear low range, and the flagger at the end of...
A quick google search brought up some great info on spring starters. I had never heard of one prior to 10 minutes ago, but what a great idea! Looks like custom applications can be had as well. Interested on pricing.
Just did mine recently, wasn't bad at all. I've done bearings/seals several times on older pickups, this is no different, just bigger. Prepare LOTS of grease rags if you want to clean things up good, along with disposable latex gloves. I didn't have the 8 sided socket, but I could see someone...
Great thoughts guys, I hadn't thought of a leftover spring from a seal change. My knuckles are nasty greasy, and I need new boots, but I don't recall having seen diff fluid leaking out, and the fluid level before draining was fine. Thanks again, will tear apart the knuckles soon for a boot...
I am not a smart man (cue Forrest Gump Accent) but something tells me that the bits of chewed up coil spring I found when I changed my front diff fluid isn't supposed to be there. From the looks and size of it, it appears to be the spring that might be found on a rubber seal, possibly axle or...
Source for head gaskets
A recent discussion here was centered on finding a new source for head gaskets. Was there ever a consensus on where to find them? I developed an oil leak from one of the heads and will be doing this soon but don't know where to find them anymore. Anyone have any for...
Thanks for the reply. I actually solved my problem-I simply tightened the screw holding the handle onto the switch! I guess always check the obvious before assuming the worst. I will now loc-tite it.
My truck is for personal use/pleasure, although when I started in the fire service over 20...
I know this is probably in the TM's, but hoping for a quick answer from someone who knows. My accessory switch (near the Engine Stop T-handle) feels like it's wearing out (sloppy), and I was going to replace it with a locking master switch. Anyone know off the top of their head how many amps...
