Okay, a did the Low Buck mod on the full fuel screw, I turned it out 3 full turns and tightened the jamb nut back down, went for a ride and really don't see a big difference. So I will take the next step, the star wheel, one full turn for starters. I take it, these are subtle...
Where can I buy a new air valve? It appears as though my M923a2 valve is gray plastic, it is split, and is leaning air. (Or am I confused and not looking at the right part?). I tried searching the net but I must not be using the correct terminalogy for that part.
Long over due update
It's been a long time since this was first posted, and here's where I am at:
Since I received my 1970 M813, I had dropped it off at a fellow Steel Soldiers member facility near Boston MA, where Matt went through and changed the all of fluids, flushed out the fuel tank, new...
Very interesting - I'm going to try to recover what I have, then if that doesn't work - I'll try the 8D or 8N option. Awesome information - thank you to all for the advice!!!!
Lots of threads here on batteries, so at the end of the day; with all of your lessons learned, what would you recommend to someone who has a 5 Ton with 4 dead Hawker HASP-FT 6TL batteries?
I have read about the Optima Redtop option, I don't like the idea of cutting back so much of the...
Wholly - Molly!!!!! Went on line to one of those "part number get your quotes here" places, entered the gov spec part number and received a quote:

Is there a site that sells parts based on Military Part numbers? Or a conversion to common part ID such as threads per inch, pitch, material, elbow, etc?
I'm trying to find a replacement fitting for a leaky air line to the poppet valves on the transmission on my M813. The part number is...
Could the slave receptacle on the side of the cab be used as a temp connection point for a 24v electric winch for the bed? I'm unsure if this outlet is a good point to use for a high amp draw - over a prolong time (5 minutes or so). Basically looking for a quick connection for a 5k winch for...
I am trying to decide if a hardtop is worth putting on my 813, and part of the debate is finding one thats in great shape and fits. I did locate this on the internet, but I don't know if this particular top fits the 813. Would anyone here have experience with this, and the cross reference...
emr,
Thank you for the invite to NJ. I have my hands full right now with too much on my plate, but fortunately I live right down the street from the MV Show in Chester CT in June. I hope to be a bit more settled next year and will make the tour of more East Coast events. I am so happy to have...
I am trying to mount 14.00R20 tires on the 2-piece HEMTT wheels (see the wheel below) and for the life of me, can't get the O Ring to stay in place. It almost seems as though it is 1/2" to large. I put grease in the groove to holding until the rim pieces are bolted together and I still get...
I'm looking to re-paint my 813 and I have a question about the CARC paint: can regular civi paint be applied over the CARC olive drab? If so, which kind is recommended - not so much the brand name, but the type - I thought that I saw alyklid enamle can not be applied over the CARC. I'd rather...
Are the M939 front lift shackles a fit for an M813 front shackle mounts? The info I have on the M939 shackle is that the pin is 1" diameter and 1.55" between the holes. I don't know the dimensions of the bracket eye on the M813. Any help is appreciated.
So far I have received my 1970 M813 (driven 622 miles from Ohio) and couldn't be happier. Matt (Vintageiron) has been a HUGE help with setting me straight on owning one of these trucks. Once it arrived, I was a bit concerned that I got in over my head, but I have since been talked down of the...
