ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Here is an invitation for anyone that owns one of these trucks to come test drive mine and report the good or bad. Im in north east Indiana, you can pm me to make arrangements. My Allison guru dropped the ball, so will probably be next week for speedometer adjustment etc. I think...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Acceleration times were not in “mode” so yes 2nd. Not from a stop just to make things a little more consistant. The acceleration from a stop 2nd gear is very good! I’m letting the transmission shift on its own in all tests. My truck is a stock A1 274 hp…. The tranny will not shift to 7th...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

If I understand correctly the Speedo in an AO uses dip switches to change the calibration, the A1 is set thru the transmission ecu. will know more this week. I have an appointment with an Allison guru this week.. To this point I’ve been using gps speedometer works very good!

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

1st gear is still there and now you can use it. I know it’s hard to believe but low end power is great. Remember you also have mode for lower first as I understand.

Currently 65mph. It will go much faster…

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

A little more info for people reading along. The drive hubs are made from 4140 steel , machined ,Holes drilled then heat treated to 55/60 Rockwell. Then wire EDM splined at 20 to 30 percent tighter than stock axle/gear fit.. This is a costly way to do it but provides very consistent parts...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

The front and rear bearing run with gear lube in them. You fill thru one of the inner bolt holes that attach the hub to the adapter.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

You need to contact me and come up and drive this truck. You will be very surprised at the power it has. I think it’s the perfect combination for what you describe and more.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I think I saw in the engine ecu top speed limited to 74mph. Will look again when I get to it.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

To answer a few of your questions. At this point the truck uses first overdrive only, my speed is limited by tire balance. I will fix that in the future. I have only done a transmission relearn at this time, the shift points are now very good. The harsh first shift is gone. I have an...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

My tire balance is the limiting factor for now. Might do a land speed record attempt for m1078. NO just kidding…. Im looking for fuel mileage, drivability, and noise reduction. I think I’ve got all three.

    M1028 6.2 Diesel won't stay running.

I’m not too familiar with the 6.2, however it may have a fuel solenoid. If it does they have two windings inside them one to pull in and one to hold. If the hold wiring is bad or if you have a bad hold coil inside the solenoid It would act that way.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I know I’m going to get flamed, but here we go. PLEASE DO NOT ASK ABOUT PURCHASING ACCEPT THRU PM. I just finished an up grade to my 1078. DELEATED the hub 2:1 gear reduction. I built direct drive hubs that can be installed in 20 to 30 minutes per wheel. Doesn’t harm the original...

    MPG vs HP Compromise

I’m Confused?? I don’t disagree that balancing a driveline is a good idea. However, why would my driveshafts be going faster??? When you re-gear the engine and driveline slows down for the same road speed….

    MPG vs HP Compromise

I didn’t say it was a mistake or am I claiming a new discovery…. Yes I am changing mine. Not 3:07 gears. Will report the good or bad. Should be done in a week or so.. Wouldn’t it be nice to cruise 60/65 mph @ 1500/1650 rpm?? So much less noise and heat and fuel.

    MPG vs HP Compromise

Just my 2 cents, I believe my m1078 is far from being geared correctly. Last night I tested gps speed and checked engine rpm. 2645 rpm at 61 mph, level grade. Cat recommends for the best balance of performance and fuel mileage 2000 @ 60 with a max cruuse speed of 65. Also a...

    M1078 outer reduction

This mess was caused by one of the past military mechanics, I can’t take credit for it. I was simply pulling an axle and a washer was between the end of the axle and the outer hub. Pulled the hub and found the problem. The outer gear would probably be ok, (light pitting thru the hardened...

    M1078 outer reduction

Guess what happens when someone puts the outer needle bearing washer on the wrong side of the needle bearing? Makes a mess! At least I found where the metal shavings on the magnet came from. Looking for some parts, posted in the wanted section. :(
