I replaced the wiper motor, lubed the linkage, horn has been working, haven’t checked the wipers for any extended time yet. More than likely I’ll end up replacing the switch in the steering column..........
I have a M1009, the replacement printed circuit that I got was NOT FOR GUAGES, get the one for idiot lights, On the M1009, both alternators are 12v, one having an Isolated Ground to charge the rear battery. All of the Idiot Indicators for the 4wd and Gen1 and Gen2 is accomplished in the wiring...
I had a similar situation with PO’s rewiring of my M1009, I am quite familiar with vehicle wiring, with the CUCV’s wiring, IMHO, it is IMPERATIVE that you have proper diagrams to do it right. This site has all of the info that you will need to do your CUCV right. Good luck with it.
When I acquired my M1009, the PO had rewired it so the glowplugs would come on by holding accelerator pedal to the floor, he had by passed the interior starter relay and wired a push button directly to the starter solenoid, it was a mess. He had also disabled Gen 2, it was a mess. After reading...
I’ve checked the fuse and it’s connection, it’s good &clean. I should have said that the wipers would work until I turned them off, then when I would try to turn them back on they would not work until setting at least overnight.

‘84 M1009 The Wipers will be working fine then shut off, when attempt to turn back on they will not work, nor will the horn work, next day, horn works, turn on wipers they work fine, then problem repeats itself. I’ve tried connecting a separate ground from wiper motor with no joy.

Getting ready to paint and istall radio rack/shelf in rear seat of my M-1009, I need to know if they were Gloss, Satin, or Flat and if they were Black or OD/CARC.
