    weasel in the deep

 Send a deuce down to pull 'er out... Lord, I apologize for that right there...

    Weiser, ID

Spotted this a couple of years ago somewhere near Weiser, ID. I don't know if anything is for sale or just someones collection, but they are in pretty rough shape. Parts is parts, I guess.

USAF Strata Blue and Insignia Yellow

I've seen a few stray posts discussing the correct USAF blue and yellow colors, so I thought I'd post the definitive answer here, with samples and links to the federal standards and a source for chips. Strata Blue FED-STD-595 Federal Standard 595 Color FS 15045 Insignia Yellow FED-STD-595...

    USAF Thiokol 601

    And... vice versa!! :)

    USAF Thiokol 601

Not quite. These are all-terrain vehicles that spread the load over snow, sand, mud, dirt, grass, salt flats, etc. This series of 'snowcat' actually does poorly in any deep snow compared to lighter, wider tracked units. The link between Thiokol, snowcats, and rockets is closer than you think...

    USAF Thiokol 601

Sorry, but I recently won a couple of eBay auctions. Just waiting for the currently owners to get the cash. Now if you can find me a decent MEP.... :)

    USAF Thiokol 601

Ah yes, the Tucker War Wagon from the 'Airbender' movie. It was on eBay a few months ago.

    USAF Thiokol 601

The news video... And a shake-down video...

    USAF Thiokol 601

Rather than more pictures of mine, how about some eye candy of one that has been absolutely perfectly (perhaps better than factory) restored? This unit is the same year as mine and was found in horrific shape by a friend on another forum. He spent years restoring it. In the end, it was so...

    USAF Thiokol 601

No, but it would make it easier/possible to push it. There is a drive cog/sprocket in the rear that pulls the tracks around the bogie tires. The bogie tires that are at ground level have no power applied to them and just spin on their axles. A drive sprocket and track/bogies glamour shot...

    USAF Thiokol 601

Ha ha!!! You are a man of distinguished taste! However, owning one of these rare cats is like being a Marine....the few, the proud. You may notice my avatar. That was the day I finally bagged one after years of searching. That's my 'Captain Morgan' conquest pose. :)

    USAF Thiokol 601

What the heck, over? No military snowcat threads?!?! Well, let's fix that right now!!! Here is my beautifully faded strata blue 1963 Thiokol 601, which is retired from active duty with the USAF. Units like this were used for test rocket recovery, perimeter patrol, and personnel transport on...

    New from NH/NM

I assume you stopped at L.L.Cote?!?! :) Will look for your thread...

    New from NH/NM

I see you're in Hillsboro/Hillsborough now. I have cousins just north of you in North Sutton and Sunapee. One of them does classic Dodge restorations. Wait 'til I bring him my new M43!!

    New from NH/NM

I have a house in Rio Rancho that I don't see much, maybe once every three months, since I'm on the road fulltime.

    New from NH/NM

About 20 minutes north of Berlin.

    New from NH/NM

This seems to be where everyone is posting their introduction threads, so here I am! I've been lurking around 'Steel Soldiers' for years, but now it's time to get a little more serious. You see, I just bought two military vehicles off of eBay in the last couple of days. So in the coming months...
