    Caterpillar 3126B oil cooler problems

Not sure on the purpose behind a battery disconnect at the alternator. A1+ trucks already have a battery disconnect at the rear of the battery box. AC compressor is normally mounted on the drivers side, not the passenger side. But there's multiple ways to do it. The bigger problem is the cab...

    Dana Diagnostic tool software

    Here's the software from Dana's site: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/lmtv-ctis-question.162326/post-2553950

    Dana Diagnostic tool software

If you are getting a difference between front and rear then the problem is somewhere after the Tee that splits the control line between the front and rear QRV's. A partial blockage going to front tires could cause the control air to preferentially go to the rear at higher pressures. Is this the...

    Caterpillar 3126B oil cooler problems

The new gaskets from CAT are coated metal. No more aramid. And Loctite 515 is a beast to clean off and not my first choice. No thanks. I would rather use Hylomar. But the gaskets CAT sells now are installed dry.

    A WHAT IF SENARIO

You already have a tach sensor. It's on the bell-housing IIRC and is necessary for the transmission. I believe there is also wiring already in the truck to support a tach as it is part of the winch package on the A0 trucks since the winch operation requires raising the idle speed with the hand...

    Load Sensing Valve Delete?

Yes but the front only has a single can. Rear wheels have two cans per wheel. Rear brakes are the "primary" in the system and should have more power than the front. The front shoe wear would tend to be less even since they have only a single can and they only expand from one side of the shoes...

    Load Sensing Valve Delete?

Yeah but that has the upgraded rear cans for the planned armor package, is light as hell (bare chassis as delivered), and is a 6x6 with twice as many brakes in the back. The 6x6 trucks, especially when running light, have tremendously strong brakes being they aren't *that* much heavier when not...

    Load Sensing Valve Delete?

Well. Given his truck is 24k lbs, and my truck (M1079 A1R) is 21,500 lbs..... I have essentially the same setup he has now and I have no issues with my rear brakes locking up - indeed I have never been able to get my ABS to activate. He is so close to the GVRW and doesn't plan to ever not have a...

    Load Sensing Valve Delete?

Yeah it just has one in and one out. There's a T on the on the passenger side right at the valve. Apparently even though it was fully in the "up" position, deleting the valve made a HUGE difference. I'll let him post his findings.

    Load Sensing Valve Delete?

Ah I see! So the LSV effectively just reduces braking when the truck is light while the ABS tackles the problem from the other direction - preventing wheels from locking up when the truck is light. Got it. I'll pass that along and he can decide what to do and how to tune it.

    Load Sensing Valve Delete?

Working with a member on his A0 brakes. Considering deleting the Load Sensing Valve since the A1+ trucks including my A1R don't use it and seemingly have no issues without it. Here's the A0 pneumatic diagram and the A1R pneumatic diagram. It would appear they simply deleted it. The later...

    CTIS and Arduino

Correct. It's a matter of preference really. I mentioned the factory controller because it wouldn't care about being wet in a high-water rescue environment, etc. You can read a bit about them and what you can do with them here on this thread...

    3116 AO oil sending unit

I think every day was a Friday at the S&S facility. Chrysler got all the news reporters filming their guys with brewskies and J's on lunch and before their shifts and diverted the attention for everyone else. I've found SO MANY wiring deficiencies with these trucks (mine, friends, and even...

    M1078A1 "Pandora" Build | 2024-??? | ***Picture Heavy***

Never heard of or seen a single report of that type of failure. Every one of these trucks I have dealt with has had amazingly clean coolant with little to no corrosion despite probably never being changed - My guess on this is that the cooling system being double the normal size (they basically...

    M1078A1 "Pandora" Build | 2024-??? | ***Picture Heavy***

Are you going to run ECO hubs? If so I wouldn't bother. The cooling system on our trucks is sized for twice as much engine at the "normal" RPM range that ECO hubs run the engine. For my clutch fan to engage on my 370 HP C7 M1079 (21,500 lbs) It has to be at least 75+ degrees outside and I have...

Procedure for using spare tire(s) without CTIS hardware?

It takes literally a couple minutes to find, cut and insulate the 1911 wire to the controller and now it will inflate them to 81 psi for you. 🤷‍♂️ Just my personal opinion. But I have my truck setup to run cargo or bobtail pressure at the flip of a switch. If the CTIS valve will work with the...

Procedure for using spare tire(s) without CTIS hardware?

The CTIS can be set to 81 psi by switching the 1911 wire to the controller from power to open (cut the wire or install a switch). Here's my thread on how to change the CTIS settings without programming. You can do even more with the Dana software and an RP1210 adapter/laptop...

    CTIS and Arduino

The factory Dana controller IS water proof. And also programmable. It also seems to a little more tolerant of wiring harness short circuits. Buddy of mine bricked his Arduino due to his truck developing a wiring harness fault. Dana controller survived and was able to diagnose and report a fault...

    1083A1 Engine Cooling Issues

They are a known failure point so I would replace both. The new ones don't stack I don't think. The MTV power divider is only used when you select MODE on the Allison control panel.
