It helps if your hubs are warm, as if they've been out in the sun for several hours. The heat expanded hub, and cold shrunken seal went together very easy. We did that with the last three seals and it was easy compared to the first one. The metal wiper ring/ready sleeve was heated in the oven at...
My Father and I just went through both rear axles. We found 3 bad/froze wheel cylinders (lots of rusty crud), all springs were rusted with no tension, a brake drum with some shallow heat cracking (still useable), and 1 bad inner bearing. We replaced with all new cylinders, seals, springs, push...
I'm just really digging the ingenuity applied to the A/C. My area has been plague with heat indexes in excess of 110 degrees. I can't even imagine driving my truck right now. I asked about the lockers because I have thought about putting one in my front axle, but I'm not sure how the truck would...
I'm loving you A/C Setup. by the way, does your XM818 have lockers in all 3 axles. I think I saw that truck for sale. If it does have a locker in the front axle, how well did it steer?
Are you asking about something like this? My truck had 16.00r20s, a deuce bed, and frame extension welded to the back when I got it. It did ok, but my truck is an M818 with a shorter frame. Shorter frames with no weight on them don't flex as much as the longer ones.
This should help some.
As I understand it, the main differences between the two are height and availability. 14.00r20 is 48" tall, and the 395 is 46.5" tall, 395's are more common now and 14.00's seem to be hard to find. 395's should fit on you rims, but still double check them to make sure.
I just got my spare tire carrier mocked up. Nothing set in stone yet. The upper part of the derrick is bent, I think, so all address it in time. I'm going to have to grind the pogo stick (air line and electrical cord tower) mount off and remount it offset by 2 inches, other than that it's...
I was driving my M818 home, ran over some rough train tracks, which knocked some things loose. I barely made it to my driveway, just 75 yards away. I ended up having to call a wrecker, didn't have any other choice. It cost me about $200 and some embarrassment. But I've learned a lot about my...
Not a lot snow in Arkansas, but I got some. I can go a few miles in any direction, and no snow there. Just so you know, this is enough snow for the local schools to shut down for a day!!
Hey Big Block, I really like your charger adapter. I was thinking of something along the same lines, but my truck has the older slave "two prong" plug.
Have you ever thought of putting a small sleeper cab on your truck? Say some where in the range of a 36" to a 48". You run more miles than hard OTR drivers I know. I could sleep on the steering a few times... I've done it myself, but after awhile I'd have to lay down.
I don't think i have the room on my truck to do what you did to yours Wes. Not a lot of room under the hood of my m818 compared to your M923A0. I still like your setup, and have considered mounting another air filter drum on my passenger side fender, tying it in to the intake from the driver...
I have. It seems to let my engine breath better. I have a nhc 250 in my M818. The engine idles smoother, and has slightly better throttle response. I don't know if there is more power or not, but overall the engine breathes better with the smaller diameter filter.
