I just came upon that information myself. I searched for "Midland Air Brake Parts" and found one for sale on Ebay. It says that it's a relay valve for M939 A1 and A2 trucks. Their price was $150. :)
hgun.....I was wondering if that's what is called a tractor protection valve? 18 wheelers have them, so that if the trailer loses all of it's air pressure ( say a torn glad hand line ) the tractor retains it's air pressure/brakes. It kind of looks like it could be one of those. I mean, Deuces...
Queen Lola in distress! Oh noooo! I'd make you one in a heartbeat cattlerepairman if I lived up in your neck of the woods! I gotta say my new home made battery support makes sliding the battery box w/ batteries in and out EASY as heck. Much better than my old rusted, bent, stock support.
I fitted the panel this morning and it just needed a bit of tweaking to work. I was off on one of the holes by a 1/16 inch, but a round file took care of that. I decided to bolt on the upper stiffener rather than weld it to the sheet metal, because now I can bolt it to the bracket before I put...
The other day I discovered that the panel just behind my j-pipe, which protects the battery box from tire spray, was pretty rusted. I removed it and made a new one using my new sheet metal brake and drill press. I just have to sand and paint it and then it will go in Brutus. One less rusty thing...
I guess that's why my ex-wife used to call me "Clueless". I missed that you just linked. Did any grease go into the trunnions? When I ran into my frozen grease problem, I'd put some muscle into it and the grease gun handle wouldn't budge. That's when I knew I needed the rejuvenator. I still...
Merc, I watched your International 10 wheeler video. By now I'm sure you're shifting it like a pro. You've probably figured out double clutching by now and shifting without the clutch too. Responding to your post on greasing 20 to 30 pumps of the grease gun, that's a a hell of a lot of grease...
Great video! I'm jealous of your dump trucks. I've always had a thing for dump trucks since I was a little kid. Always wanted an Autocar or a Mack DM myself. I learned a lot from your video as far as your use of the mag drill and the design of your equipment plate. First class job of fabrication.
Drill Press Speed Chart (raygirling.com)
Here is some info I found on drill speeds for various types of drill bits and materials. Also, a neat YouTube video showing a pretty scientific drill bit comparison test. I found them interesting, but then I'm boring.
Yup, 10.9 mm is metric. The usual rule of thumb is to have three or four threads protruding past the nut when all snugged up. Anything more and you just have to fight the nuts off after years of use and rust. The proper torque for a 1/2" bolt is 71 to 75 foot pounds according to the SAE (Society...
Oh boy. Step drills are no good for anything more than a thin residential electrical panel. Using them on a truck frame is like trying to saw through angle iron with a toothbrush. Were the holes in the mount really that big? If so, that's way design overkill. Nothing bigger than a 1/2" grade 8...
Thanks for the info cattlerepairman! I think I may just leave the FDC alone. Brutus' engine seems to run well enough. I just have to find some flatter roads to drive on. It's really nice to have the maneuverability of a bobber, but I don't have close to your payload capacity. I think the rear...
I really like your hitch! I've drilled a few holes in my frame. I had no problems. The keys are low rpm about 350-400 rpm. Consistent even pressure and not too much of it. If the drill bogs down, you're pushing too hard. Let the drill bit cool off every minute or so. Put some tap magic or heavy...
Thanks for the info 92ramaro! Yeah, a bobbed Deuce weighs about 1,200 lbs. less than a standard Deuce. I thought there would be a power increase too, but there doesn't seem to be. Brutus is the only Deuce I've ever driven, so I have nothing to compare his performance to. Maybe I should think...
Flat roads and a lack of stop signs. Sounds like a different planet. Hills and stop signs are all we've got up here. So, you did the FDC bypass. Did you turn up the fuel at the same time? Always good to prepare for stops well in advance. The brake shoes on a Deuce are about 1/2 the width of a...
