We run all our tractors with straight water in the tires to increase the weight. I never considered how that could improve balance, though they typically don’t exceed 30mph on the road.
We don’t use antifreeze since freezing is not an issue here. I’m thinking I could do the same with the MTVR.
My MTVR sat in Yermo for God knows how long on flat tires. They’re holding air just fine, but are annoyingly out of balance. A couple even have minor rot showing on the sidewall, the part that used to be flat in the dirt.
It’s a shame because the treads are in great shape. I think it’ll be fine...
Looking for ideas to better secure my 1161. I like to original look of the ignition switch and am thinking about installing a keyed off-on switch in a discrete location for added security. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
I saw an opportunity that I believed I couldn’t pass on. I think with shipping it will be about equal to or little less than the units were selling for in Barstow at the time. Compared to today’s selling prices, it was a steal!
On uShip already, thanks.

Thanks for the input. Good to know I’m the only one with that issue. You definitely have the same issue, including the odometer logging double miles.
I’ll keep an eye put for your update.
Thanks!
This doesn’t look right. As far as I can tell, the other end is at this block, labeled XMISN OIL.
I can’t find where it should go. I’m not spraying transmission fluid anywhere so that’s a good sign.
Update:
As I was leaving Commercial Engine Service, I noticed they has another MTVR in the bay being worked on, in about the same (lousy) condition as mine was. Karl mentioned the buyer wants to use it to deliver supplies (I think charity) to remote areas in Puerto Rico. Maybe someone from...
I just picked up my MTVR from Commercial Engine Service in Hesperia, CA. Those guys did a great job.
A quick stop for a wash and fuel, then my 4 hour drive home to get acquainted with her.
Glad to be part of the crew!
