I’ll start with a public service announcement, if anyone’s considering trying to do major motor work with the motor still in the truck, just do yourself a favor and just pull the motor. I started down the path with the motor in and ended up pulling it since I was 90% of the way there anyways by...
So I ended up bringing this to resolution. If I did it over again i would’ve done it differently but such is life I guess. I initially went down the path of looking for a crack free block and did end up finding one. Only problem then was finding a place that had availability to rebuild it. I...
The plug turned out to indeed use a 1/4” plug socket. The socket fit much tighter than a 1/4” drive extension did so I was able to get it out with relative ease. Mission accomplished!
What is the thought on using this copper spray on head gaskets, specifically Mahle ones? A few manuals I have say not to use it on Felpro gaskets, but then some people seem to swear by it on whichever gasket they use. The gaskets are composite so technically copper spray is supposed to be...
Thanks for the ideas! That makes sense that the plug is larger than 1/4". I tried some heat already but I didn't want to get it too hot so it wasn't enough to help. I'm going to get a pipe plug socket set and give that a try. It has 1/4, 9/32, and 5/16 (as well as other sizes) Hopefully...
I am trying to remove the plug from the block (above the oil filter) to use as the oil supply source for my turbo but it is putting up quite the fight, even after soaking for a few days in penetrating oil. A 1/4” drive extension doesn’t fit snug enough to be able to put a lot of force on and I...
Yep, makes sense. Unfortunately I believe the m1008 came stock with the other carrier. I was just curious if 4:11 fell into the “4:10 and down” carrier since technically it is numerically larger than 4:10. But I’ve always considered 4:11 and 4:10 to be the same thing (which could be wrong) so I...
Carriers sure aren't cheap right now.
On that note, something I've always wondered, from what I've seen 4.10 and lower require a different carrier. However USA Standard Gear (and probably others) sell a 4.11 ring/pinion. I'm assuming this still requires the different carrier? Or would this...
I'd love to get a 6.5 Optimizer but that's alot of coin to spend. Does anyone have a confirmed crack free block? Used motors aren't exactly cheap right now and most likely have the same crack issues that I have now so I feel like its playing the lottery spending $1k-2k for something that's...
As part of my turbo build I performed an inspection of the lower end of my block. It turns out I have I believe 3 cracks in the main bearing webs. All 3 are facing the rear of the motor on the outer bolts, 1 is on the 3rd from the front (middle) web, while the other 2 are both on the 4th. None...
What do you mean, your cucv doesn’t go 140mph? 😂 It looks like the speedo is the same on the gasser gauge cluster so I’m assuming it’s the same one. I think having a high mph speedo makes people think they have a faster vehicle than it actually is so manufacturers just make them that way for...
I know there are a lot of threads on gauge conversions. And this is a new product so maybe no one has tried it yet. But LMC now has a gauge cluster for the 6.2 diesel.

Here is another thread on the topic (probably more out there too) on troubleshooting the lights. It’s on my list of things to do as well since none of my lights come on either.

Try this, I didn't go with the LMC ones but the part numbers for what i used are there.
