M1022 Gichener Mobilizer, worth the money?

Rarely are they 100% complete according to threads about people buying them. They will usually “look” complete and you buy it. Only to find out that the one somewhat critical part (hypothetical) is gone and you will never find one. Units are really good of taking unobtainable parts like that...

    Runaway MEP-003a !!!

Could the engine be coked up a bit? Not knowing its history, I would run it at almost full or at full load for hours to burn off any deposits, some of which could be making the rings stick. Seafoam can also be added to oil to clean internals. The coating on the exhaust sounds like it wasn’t...

1984 cucv Engine oil type 6.2l diesel

Correct It’s 15w-40 If you look at the regular 10w-40 on the back label, it will say it’s fine to use in diesels. I use the Delvac in all my Diesels year around and have never had any issues. Ironically, I use Rotella “diesel” motor oil in all my gasoline 4 cycle small engines. Zero issues.

    Source for New M1008 Radiator?

They still make the copper/brass radiator. Expensive but literally drop in. It's exactly like the original Any radiator shop will be able to order it for you. I don't have the part number in front of me but I showed it in an earlier thread a few years ago. It's been flawless for years. No issues.

Why is my M1008 floor getting so hot?

Mine did the same thing. As mentioned above, bare metal floors radiate a lot of heat. Every vehicle does it, it’s just ours are not insulated with carpet on top. I use semi truck mud flaps of different sizes cut to fit and reduce the radiant effect. They work extremely well and I don’t have...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Installed LED bulbs in the last trailer today. M149A2 Drained water out for the winter, then drove it around empty for about an hour to exercise the tires. Now all my military trailers have LED bulbs.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I watched a Hawker rep on YouTube explaining how to bring one back. I did use a lower amperage for a bit then the 10A setting for the longest time of charge. Battery was very warm but never really hot during the charge. You could keep your hand on it. I know it wasn't per the manual but it...

    M1061 master cylinder question

This is the A1 version, but shows everyone not familiar with this trailer what it looks like.

M101 Trailer Series: Brand New Brake Levers

Yes. They are still available and still expensive. $100 each but they give me a break on price. Remember, these are the correct ones for the M101A2/3 trailers. Still lots of eBay ads, etc saying other style levers will fit when they will not.

    New to me M101a1

Nice score. Next you’ll want an A2 with surge brakes and CUCV wheels. Then a M116A2 former generator trailer to use as a flatbed. Then……….?? Trailers are addictive

M101A1 Trailer + Rivian tow rig

Good score. You can do a lot with that trailer. Not sure about shocks You will have to measure with the new axles installed to see what your options are and your intended use. Rancho and Bilstein for heavy work. Monroe or whatever if road use only.

Appropriate trailer to tow behind an M1008 and fair price to purchase

Get the M101A2/3. Spend the $$$ for initial maintenance. Bearings Surge brake shock Brakes It will provide you with years of trouble free use. These are great trailers and built like tanks. M105 is a completely different beast.

    Purchased a M101-A3

Great trailer. Built like a tank. Don’t forget to check and repack bearings. The surplus M101 series were notorious for lack of maintenance.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

M1008A1 Had what initially I thought was a dying starter. Acted and definitely sounded like it. Voltage showed good. Hawker battery’s. Fast forward a few weeks (I do not drive it daily anymore) and issue still getting worse. Spare starter ready to be installed. Went to start it to move inside...
