What did you do to your trailer today.

The solid rims are not the easiest to find. Usually pricey when you do. I was very lucky. Those lugs should work fine. Please post if you have any issues.

Thanks Got these at GSA auction for $25 for the set. Stole them.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Bought a NOS camo trailer cover for my workhorse M101A2. Looks kinda silly on a tan trailer but it will work for now. These are getting scarce and very expensive. I will replace the lousy nylon ropes with the rubber rope. Did that mod on my other trailer and it’s a breeze to get in and out of...

What did you do to your trailer today.

I was surprised on how often I use the water trailer. Has been extremely handy It has been used as everything from a remote shower to a movable water supply for a power washer and so on. I keep it filled in the warmer months so we always have drinking water if needed. It’s getting close to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Those trailers are HEAVY. They make a modern day dually truck squat a lot. I see what you mean about tail lights needing installed.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Picked up a set of the solid wheels and G186 tires for the M149A2 water trailer. No more lock rings. Will install this week.

    Mashed Potatoes: M1101

They were definitely needing grease. Wouldn’t have carried a heavy load very far. At least you now know their condition and they have plenty of grease. Numerous examples in the old threads of guys getting trailers that looked great, but had junk dry bearings, including me. Glad you checked...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Changed engine oil and filter. Mobil1 Delvac 15w-40 Wix 51061 Only Drove the CUCV about 2600 miles last year. Greased all the fittings. Checked rest of fluids. All good. Air and fuel filters were changed last oil change. Their still good. Fuel filter checked for water. None found. Wiper...

What did you do to your trailer today.

She is a great dog. Loves riding in the back of the CUCV, or front seat of anything else. Installed a LED set on my third M101A2. Had another supervisor for this job.

What trickle chargers are you guys using?

I use the same NOCO charger on my CUCV and Duramax diesel. Use several other NOCOs for other vehicles/equipment. All the NOCO chargers have been flawless for years. For my MEP-002A, I use a 12w solar charger/maintainer. Same for my NF-2D light tower/generator. Been working great so far.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Those are factory LED blackout bulbs, but you can usually buy them separately on eBay or a parts wanted request in the classifieds here on Steel Soldiers. The Stop/Turn LEDs complete the light. I had installed all LEDs on my old 5 ton using all Truck-Lite brand lights. The prices for new LED...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Installed another LED bulb set in my second M101A2. Super easy and will last for years. The bulbs I got from another Steel Soldiers member. The dialectic grease and the silicone grease are from Amazon. Zero modifications are needed. Took 5 minutes per side.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Installed LED bulbs on my main workhorse M101A2. Much less expensive than a new set of lights. Applied electrical grease to the connections and silicone grease to the housing seal. Should never have to worry about them again unless I smash one. Trailer needs painted and is showing it’s age but...

    Mashed Potatoes: M1101

Any standard or high temp bearing grease will work. Recommend you repack the grease at a minimum. Then you can use the Bearing Buddies to keep them maintained

A couple of questions about power.

If you turn your pump up, that means more fuel. More fuel means more heat. The 6.2L does NOT like to get hot. Be prepared for new head gaskets or worse. As stated above, it was designed for convoy speed of 45 mph and to haul and tow its rated load and get good fuel mileage. That’s it. A good...

    Humvee Trailer 10-15 Foot Length

Not the most attractive trailers ever built. The ones that GovPlanet sold brought a pretty penny.

    Mashed Potatoes: M1101

Welcome to Steel Soldiers. You’ll want to remove the wheels and physically inspect/repack the bearings. These trailers are notorious for lack of maintenance as already mentioned. Snap-on makes a special plier that removes the grease cap without damaging it. I've used mine to remove some...
