WSUCougar's M925A1 Acquisition and Build Thread

This is the truck on the "M939 Series 5 ton" Facebook group cover photo right?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Interesting! Mine is an A1 but lacks the ABS as well. We think it was a really early release, maybe prior to 1999 when the Army started retrofitting ABS into M939 series trucks. It's on NDTs but I think it actually had singles originally. Came from a Texas fire department. Original bed is...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Very nice! I commend you for working to rescue the 932 vs just parting it out as many would do, being the rare model that it is. I have an M928A1 that looks literally in about that same condition...

    Portland to Sequim (Hopefully)

If I can acquire the one I have a lead on, I'd love to restore her as well.

This is perplexing! '68 sounds like an M51 though. She's 50 years old yet going strong nevertheless. What are your plans for her?

Yep, that's her pedigree alright! Any idea on a year? Any other pix?

M939 Potential Junkyard Rescue Need Advice

Hey Pontiac, it would possibly involve working on some M939s! Interestingly, on a whim I posted on one of the local Facebook gossip groups asking about the truck and "ran into" none other than the guy who later installed the lockers. Small world...

Getting an M939 Running for the First Time in Years

OK! End of the story. Turned out the truck had a loving owner and wasn't left for dead. So although I didn't acquire it, the story has a happy ending. It ended up being a really nice M925, albeit buried in snow at the time. Believe it or not, relating this story later landed me a connection...

    Hoarders Deuce

I've typed out a letter I'll stick in the mail to the address introducing myself and expressing interest. My biggest assumptions are that it lacks a title and it's in nonrunning condition, but we'll see. Worst case, it's a good parts truck.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

LOL at the Detroit 2 stroke oil leaking thing, as I ran a WWII power scow that had a couple 6-71s that we joked were "self-basting".

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

    Looking good Wes!

Anyone buy a 5 ton in Yuma?

    Hopefully it wasn't finally scrapped.

    Deuce vs Fire

Aw man, that really sucks! Looks like it could have been so much worse though. Most importantly, YOU are okay. Please keep us posted on how this goes.

Almost 10 years later and I remembered my log in, found my first deuce

The civillian wrecker bug has started to bite me as of late actually!

Seeing your avatar, I'm 99.99% sure she's an M51. Great truck nevertheless. You make me want to pursue the one I have/had a lead on more. I've got an M928A1 that needs a motor but who said one MV is enough?
  19. 71DeuceAK

    Portland to Sequim (Hopefully)

Unless somehow she was an 817 originally? As someone trying to rescue one of these myself, now you have me curious!

She's definitely an M51. The air cleaner on the passenger side is the dead giveaway.
