Looking good! I personally still vote for the one SouthJL came up with the M939 front end, but I'm enjoying the creativity we're seeing! Is there going to be some sort of a poll thread going up at some point?
Welcome from another 20 year old 5 ton owner! I haven't picked it up yet, but I bought an M928A1 in August. It is the first vehicle I have ever owned myself.
I like this one, simpler is better. That said, I still lean toward your design with the M939 front end.

I absolutely will! I've always had a very soft spot for the M939 series trucks, particularly the XLWB models. Many other enthusiasts have even told me I'm nuts with this one, but given their relative rarity it's worth bringing this one back to life.
The only fear I have is if the frame is...
Oh, I was (and still am!) out of my mind. Worse yet, there was possibly going to be an hourlong (at Deuce speed) commute in the offering. University parking would have been yet another issue.
Funny you mention that, as unfortunately I live in cramped university housing right now myself! That may be about to change but I don't think I could stuff the 928 at that house either. With that said, my truck is currently in Oklahoma and I'm in Alaska, so I have bigger worries in terms of...
