These are for my upcoming bumper carrier. Korea-era milsurp jerry cans. Looked like red primer under Vietnam-era OD sprayed over with something else. Doesn't look like military green to me. Anyway, today I added rattle can Rapco 33446, CARC 686 substitute. New cans have a powerful spray with a...

I wasn't even thinking about the seal driver. Good frame of reference. Thank you. Will figure something out when the time comes. Mostly, I was just nervous about potentially hurting the radiator core while I'm messing with the pulley puller.

Maybe I'll wait on the mounts 'til I get the picker. I was gonna get a cherry picker to install the rear bumper, since it weighs 149 LBS unloaded, so having more than one use for it out of the gate is a good thing. Don't suppose you know the fuel hose diameter off the top of your head? I haven't...

Exhaust donuts done on both sides. Driver's side was a breeze. The studs stayed put and the nuts came right off. Installed the new stainless springs and the zinc plated nuts on the original studs and moved on to the other side. Passenger side, I had one stud break free before the nut, which gave...

Got 'em. They're on closeout on RockAuto, but there's only one left now.

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

At some point, somebody decided to keep tightening the nuts instead of replacing the collector donuts, so the OE springs are ruined, just like the gaskets. Whatever common database websites are using to determine whether or not these fit the CUCV states that they will not work, but only because...

Left a bad review on those Dynomax mufflers on Summit and a rep reached out to offer a refund or exchange with paid return shipping. They're sending me a pair of Thrush welded mufflers. Honestly, I'm impressed with the customer service.

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

In the meantime, I'd chain the steering wheel to the brake pedal or something.

For $35, get the genuine GM cylinder from RockAuto.

    6.2 Starter Bolt Info

Anybody got a pic of the bracket installed on the starter in place on the truck? I believe my bracket's missing, but I'm not even sure where it's supposed to be. The previous owner had the starter rebuilt and it's not a stretch to assume the tech threw it away.

Looked up the doghead mod and didn't find the original post. Seems like it must have been posted more than 15 years ago. I did find a post referring to it and it directed me to look up this part specifically. It's listed at 12v, 300 amp. Is this correct? https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/SME7018601

There are free VPN servers you can use to access American websites. Some web browsers have them built in.

Slaughtered the budget this month ordering this bumper with a jerry can carrier. Made to order and turnaround is lengthy, so I have time to think about what I've done. If anybody's got an extra M1009 wheel, let me know. Hillbilly Wizard is asking more than I want to spend for a matching spare...

    HACKED M1009 WIRING

I always thought CUCVRUS was supposed to read like Toys-R-Us for CUCVs, but it's entirely possible we're both wrong.

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

Glad you got that sorted quick fast. I've never regretted swapping for an Oshkosh milsurp spin-on. If you insist on keeping original, I've a filter mount in better shape that I'm never going to use again.

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

Just R&R the cylinder. The ignition doesn't match the door locks, so it's no big deal. They're like ten bucks.

    M1009 Custom Front Bumper Build

Hope your transmission's done and running great. Nice work on the bumper. I could definitely go for a front receiver hitch and winch mount, but how's the approach angle?
