I think you're thinking of the 803a at full load. He averages about 2kw and the generator will run 22 hours on a full tank. The 802a burns approximately 1/2 gph fully loaded and with his set-up he's burning approximately 1/4 gallon per hour. We figured it was just a little above $10,000 over the...
Yeah, just to bring power to him is over $35,000 and the original plan was to install solar within 1 year but he's had some unexpected issues that has not let him do the install yet. The generator was suppose to be limited but has been his primary power.
I wanted to give some first hand experience on the extended operation of an 802a I sold 2 years ago. This generator is primary power for a customer, who has been building his home off grid for the past 2 years. He uses the generator to run his camper, well pump and small shop continuously. He...
Sounds like the pump is failing and not putting enough fuel to the injector pump. Don't half way do your PM, go ahead and change the filters and move forward. If your loosing 1/2 your psi I would say the pump is the problem.
The relay your missing is the oil pressure relay. Part of the system that excites the field I believe has to flow through the oil pressure relay so with it missing you will not get power. It's raining for the next 3 days here, when it stops raining I'll go out and pull my relay to confirm the...
If you remember GL just put the units out with unknown condition, so you didn't know what you got. GP is starting the units so you know if it runs and generates power, that's a game changer. Re-sellers are willing to pay up for runners because they don't have down time trying to get it to an...
For the guys who have been around for awhile. When the 800 series (802a/803a) models came out, the prices were crazy just like today with the 1000 series. Just wait it out and prices will go down.
If you don't want to spend a fortune on a controller and install. What I did for my wife was installed the inova auto start board with a 24v wireless remote controller from ebay for about $25. So all my wife has to do is hit the ON button on the remote control, then go to the breaker box to move...
Kloppk gave an excellent description. Really easy and works perfectly to get the water/separator out of these machines. I've only 3 units where I destroyed the filter with the strap and had to take the side cover off and use a big pipe wrench to get it off.
Rich, this is the strap I use.

I've had this happen and it would not matter if you had the ear because there is no way to reattach.. I took a small piece of metal (about 3inches long/ 1/2 inch wide) and riveted it to the bottom hole that you still have and drilled/rivted in the center of the ear.
That's a gauge problem. Your gauge would never be able to keep up with changes like its reading, if it was actually the generator. Use your fluke and you'll see perfect voltage.
Sounds like the injector pumps are gummed up. If you take the hard lines off and you're not getting a good shot of fuel out, than that's the problem. Leave the pumps in place and take the top of the pump off (it takes a 3/4 wrench) but be careful because there is a spring and washer in there...
The orange is a base coat paint on the motor. It looks like someone sanded it down to clean it for some reason. I wouldn't worry about it, I've had several units that had severe rust in that area and everything was fine.
I've had good success with heating the top (around the sides) of the piston with a torch and then dumping ice into the cylinder, then right after you dump the ice, smack the piston with a mallet. The hot and cold cause contracting and expanding, then the sudden smack with a mallet breaks it...
