We’ve decided on moving to Alabama. Already have a job lined up, we’re looking to move at the end of February. It’s a pretty flat straight trip. The Deuce will flat tow my Jeep Cherokee and the bed will have all my tools. Should be around 7000lbs total haul maybe less. Is there anybody I could...
Seems I always speak to soon, but this appears to be the worst of the top rot. And my old neighbor gave me a mini dune buggy that I couldn’t say no to. So some deuce distraction headed this way.
My main concern areas are under the windshield hinges. The captured nuts for the bolt holes are somewhat stripped from removing the fine thread heavily corroded bolts. I’m thinking I can cut an access panel from the outside to access the nuts, cut them out then cover up the hole with a new patch...
Debating on fixing or just finding a new cab. Trouble is it’s a 65, original to the truck and I’m sentimental. Plus I have no cabs near me to pick from. The trouble areas are the cowl, under the windshield hinges, and the bottom of the rockers. The cab corners are all solid.
does anybody have...
She earned her keep today doing a property clean up, two whole truck fulls. Wife helped me with all of it, time for a beer and leftover thanksgiving stuffs.
The pumpkin is finished and I’ll be heading to member David Byrum’ shop to get it installed soon!
Anything wrong with stock wheels and 395s? I know it squishes them but in the Jeep world this keeps beads seated at lower pressures off-road. I stuck 33x12 tires on my stock Jeep 7 inch wide wheels and they run amazing at 8 psi off-road with limited bulging.
Kids are 6 years old and the new one is 7 months. She isn’t keen on the idea of selling it, told me I need to take a break again. It is in my nature to become engrossed in stuff I like and if it’s not big ugly trucks it’s other things, probably always be into something!
It may come as a shocker, but ive seriously considered selling the truck. I’ve put 1000 miles on her and it is a lot of fun to drive. But I look at the work that still needs done, and how it’s fitting less and less into my lifestyle. It doesn’t have enough room for my family, it eats tires...
Hard top back deskined. Straightened it out and next is rust removal and prep for new skin…
Also folding the windshield for the first time in 50 years has turned into a can of worms. Removed hinges and frame. Frame looks perfect but the cab is showing her age.
With all the rotted corners I’m...
As someone who’s used behr flat for a few trucks over the years and loved it, how does the semi gloss cure? I feel like it would always be softer paint but I could be wrong. I would love to paint my 65 Kaiser soon in semi gloss Gillespie, but it fades very quickly in the desert. I think semi...
My grease gun died, so needing a new one and not liking anything new, I picked this 1920s era Balcrank gun. Gotta love the depression era chrome plating and leather cup seals. Stay classy my friends…..
She had some surprises for sure, but it’s all part of the adventure. She deserves to be pretty too so work begins on the beauty stuff.
The big question is do we update to CARC style 383 green or do a little more prep work and go 24087 semi gloss like she wore in ‘65
More small wins, replaced rotted running board with the one included by Will Wagner. Also cleaned and painted wheels.
I found some treasure hiding between the jerry cab holder and the tool box. We have old school beer pull tabs, a moussy beer bottle cap which was a non alcoholic beer popular...
