The sintered metal (Velvetouch) puck clutch is a better choice than the organic disk. That is what I've found almost every 5-ton military rebuild.

Weight in the bed will help in your case. If something does grenade, it will usually be an axle shaft or U-joint. No biggie.

This guy does them in his shop. I've done them in my garage. No machinework usually, just buy the parts kit and go. Most of the work is cleaning the greasy bugger up.

Different transmission guts, the gasser is direct 5th, the multi is 16% OD. Same case, either will fit.

Very high quality spray paint in lots of colors is Montana, sold by dickblick.com. It has a real high pigment load with premium solvent, and custom nozzles are available. Not cheap, but neither is reworking a bad job. You'll never go back to Krylon or Rustoleum.
