I really like how the hoist stores away! I was loading a spare last night before I head to the rally in Denton nc and I had to use a front end loader or in the past a ramp.
Thats a really cool build. I like several ideas I think I'll steal and try on my own restomod'd hmmwv. I really like the hoist as well. The engineer in me would like to see the turnbuckle in tension so I might try it cantelever style with the arm hanging off the back and the turnbuckle on the...
I've got the HMMWV and M1102 mostly packed and 95% of the PMCS done for each. With two other vehicles in our group of 7 guys I think we have about 1000lb of gear per attendee and I still feel underpacked! It'll be a lot of fun and will be all of our first visits out there. We are camping...
I just finished the BMI kit matched up to the bowtie 700r4. The exhaust routing is something I’ll fix in the future but the 3” pipes with the turned up DB2 is about as fast as I want! Definitely hitting the limits of a flying brick! 70 mph on the highway makes me feel like Jeff Bezos shooting...
I’m interested as well. Glow shift was closest in a combo gauge but one signal is still digital and I don’t know the answer on connections.
speedhut has great gauges, I have their humvee set which is awesome looking. But they don’t have combo egt/pyro and I don’t want a giant gauge cluster on...
Glider. I forgot to mention in my update we debated back and forth on using the dual brake switch or not. We decided for now to just use the Bosch relay setup bowtie ships the transmission with that taps off the brake light signal to trigger a relay to open the TCC circuit. Bowtie provides the...
Glowshift has a combo EGT, boost and temp gauge. I was debating that and having the temp gauge be for the transmission temp. I have the stock hmmwv tach which works well.
visualg, the missing grommet was also missing on mine. It ended up being the perfect spot to mount a keyed main electric cutoff kit from hummerpartsguy. I use that both for security and an easy way to kill the electric when working on the humvee
I'll add my results so far with the 700r4 that I had installed. I now have a few hundred miles on it and I really like it. I had a level 3 build from bowtie overdrives and it was installed locally by a mechanic with lots of military vehicle experience (he has 14 of his own, about half humvees)...
I have a set of centramatic balancers for a hmmwv. They have probably 4000 miles on them before I switched to aftermarket wheels and tires. I paid $250, listing at $150.
Mogman, where do you look to for high performance compressor wheels? I am putting in a rotomaster-sourced one next week which was an OEM one for GM 6.5's and will stay stock at least for a while, but curious what performance ones are out there that may spool up a bit faster.
Thanks
You can easily get a temp gauge and install it later if desired from any number of sources. Maybe they suggested it since I said I want to tow with it.
Here's the parts ordered/supplied from Bowtie pasted below.
The items needed/adjusted beyond the kit:
TV bracket had to be modified to fit the 6.2 block since the kit was designed for a 350 block.
Needed the dual brake switch to interupt the TCC when braking
Needed to route a 24V to 12V...
Hey Glider. My 700r4 is going in right now and the shop doing it went the dual switch route you suggested. I’ll ask him more specifics once I get the truck tomorrow. We debated not doing the dual switch, but you need a way to open up the TCC if you hit the brakes on the highway and that’s the...
You shouldn't need to pull the starter to count it, just the cover over the flexplate which is maybe 4 bolts if I remember correctly. I went around in circles getting mine rebuilt then rebuilt again. Finally I just ordered a completely rebuild from the place that supplies them to the US...
Ive had no issues getting multitudes of bird droppings off with just normal water a d car wash soap and even pine sap off using automotive sap remover. I had a cv boot go and spray grease all over including onto areas painted and it too came off with a few rounds of detergent.
With a few times...
