LMTV M1078A1R - Battery Disconnect Reset Issue

Pull up the relay panel. There is a grouped ground right side on a bolt that goes into one of the dash side grab handles. Sand and make good ground and put back together. The main truck ground goes thru a shunt up by the polarity box. So military diagnostics can measure current draw. Poor design...

    Considering LMTV

The bumpers were just about sitting on the rear axles. I didnt take a pic. The trucks are very overbuilt. Theres a vid somewhere from 5 or so years ago of me pulling a metal plate with 34000lbs of concrete on it on dirt. Could have done more. You can kind of see the suspension squat a bit in...

    M1078 CIN number required

I can get you a number off the ecu tomorrow. There are 2 different generations of wtec2. It goes by truck serial number. I have had good luck swapping the trans computers between trucks though.

    Considering LMTV

The 6x6 is overkill for average use. Unless you need the weight carrying capacity. I put a good 6500lbs in the back of a 4x4. The frame has arms that stick down a bit with rubber bumpers, the suspension squats down a bit and the bumpers sit on the rear axle with heavy weight in the bed. I drove...

    Considering LMTV

There is a parts cross ref at the top of the lmtv forum you can see what crosses over. I like my lmtvs. Very roomy, nice sealed cab, comfortable drive.

    Hard key....... Keypad?

Just a different style. The rubbery ones are less common. I think the hard ones are better. The rubber ends up tearing eventually.

J1939 diagnostic code reader. Anyone using it?

I can pull engine codes on lmtvs with my OTC 3418 hand reader. It wont let me change any settings though. Just basic codes and some reset capabilities.

    M-1088 Electrical Problems

I always add a new big ground lead from the batteries negative to a sanded spot on the main frame rail. Then once you have known good batteries, measure 12 and 24 volts at the batts and then at the power panel lugs. You should only have around 1/2 volt drop at the panel. I would go thru and...

    Snow chains on FMTV tires

I looked in the little booklet that comes with the chain. It didnt show it. Maybe its a keeper for storage when off the tire.

    Snow chains on FMTV tires

No pic of the keeper. I have a tire with a chain on it though.

    Snow chains on FMTV tires

Small cable and clip. Acts as an extra safety on the tire chains lock on mechanism.
