GM made the oil cooler separate on all of the GMT 400 trucks. That made me think it would be ok to do the same on my 6.5 Banks turbo GEP engine when I built up a Suburban to put it in. That was 7 years and 34,000 miles ago. I also installed an oil temperature gauge.
I used a 1995 6.5 turbo...
Probably the -34P TM. There is a gasket between the bottom of the compressor and the mount.
I was helping someone recover a truck 700 miles away years ago. It had a bad starter that we didn’t want to use again after the initial start. After about an hour on the road we noticed a little oil on...
I’m confused by your description. I got the new glow plugs part.
When you turn on the key the glow plug relay clicks, the glow light comes on but stays on more than 25-30 seconds?
At some point the light turns off and the truck starts right up then, correct?
Are you pushing the throttle...
Something to keep in mind is that the 6.2 diesel cooling system has around 4 gallons or 16 quarts of coolant in it. The stock thermostat is a 195° unit which starts to open at 192° and is fully open with full flow at 203°. The original post stated that there was a temperature gauge installed at...
There is no engine performance difference that I am aware of between the different CDR cans. The valve cover mounted one is just easier plumbing with the turbo.
I used a valve cover CDR and plumbed it to the vent at the oil fill and at the air filter. While keeping the non CDR valve covers.
Depending on tires a M35 pintle hitch will be 32 (9.00)-34(11.00) inches above the ground.
As others suggested don’t drive a military truck to get your CDL. Dozens of post over the years to search for about how that rarely ends well.
The truck has no clue what the voltage draw is. There is also no mechanism to increase voltage besides your right foot And the cold fast idle solenoid.
The truck has 2 separate 12 volt systems. They join for starting, military radios, slave starting and the stock glow plug system. Otherwise...
Power goes from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch to the firewall plug and then to the headlights. If you aren’t getting the hi beam indicator then that means power isn’t getting to or through the switch at the base of the steering column. Check power there.
Like anything mass produced. The 6.2 was made to work in all environments and a huge range of conditions. Also like all things mass produced there is a range of acceptable sizes and performance of many different components. As long as each part was within “tolerance”, it was ok to install it...
I think the deeper mark is the factory “Center” mark. Where you have it should be pretty close to max advance without some way of checking your actual timing. . However, just a tiny movement in either direction from where you are can have a huge seat of the pant feel difference.
Yes to total replacement over fixing a broken transmission. At this time complete transmissions are still cheaper than parts and time to fix a broken one. I have 2 or 3 broken ones stored away waiting for the day I find another broken one with different broken parts inside.
All of our...
I bought a bag of 50 or 100 of those aluminum number tabs off ebay decades ago. Then I ruined a very high percentage of them trying to stamp numbers into the tags but not through the tags. Now I remove old ones off any wires getting thrown out and put them in a bag to search and search and...
It isn’t the horse power that kills the automatics. It is the relentless torque and compression stroke power surges. Even the NV4500 manual had to go through several upgrades to handle the 6BT over the years. It never did get “bullet proof.” I suggest that whatever transmission you end up going...
Sorry. Yours is the last HMMWV I have seen with the hood open and that was a few years ago with the Duramax in there.
I wasn’t going to open the gas/diesel/LS/Duramax can of worms. But since it came up. Torque is what to look for at as low an rpm as possible. The TPI 350 isn’t going to give...
