4x16, now that's some big dimension lumber right there. I've got some 8x8 off cuts that I though were big.
I've been meaning to stop by the local sawmill and see if they have any large dim scraps they want to move.
Yeah, the seats he made are here giving a nice soft ride now on the other side of the country. I'm spoiled I know because my first Deuce experience is with this nice ride :)
You mean like running them mixed with the NDTs in some combination? Yeah, definitely not planning on that so no worries here :) Actually I've not seen guys do a mixture of both before, is that a thing?
The Michelins are actually 12R20's intended to be run as singles (as opposed to 11R20's to...
I plan to. At this point id like to keep the truck as stock in appearance and features as possible while being drivable.
It won't be but another 20 years or so before they are considered truly collectors items I think.
Thanks guys, my mind is already spinning on what's next :)
I think I'd like to find either a cheap dropside or m36 truck that needs work and use the rear half as a trailer, and keep the front half (steer axle, engine, trans, xfr, body etc) as spares.
If I went with the dropside id probably...
I was crawling around under my truck and noticed a nice shiny metal linkage sticking out of the rear of the transmission cover. It is item #16 in this picture:
It is designated as the following in TM 9-2520-346-34P:
It looks like this is an unused linkage for some kind of add-on item that...
Maintenance to-do's
So at this point I've only driven it twice (if you dont count the first time driving it home at night in the snow fully loaded at ~22K lbs) and I'm loving it! It drives straight and smooth, brakes sufficiently and hums right along with the 11.00x20's and the fuel turned up...
Thought I'd start up a thread on my new Deuce.
I bought this off of SS member Kaiserjeeps, who (in ID) was kind enough to help get it packed up on its way to me (in MD)...a long haul.
He had it listed briefly (1 month maybe) here in the classifieds, and it worked out that while he had it off...
Just saw this post, where in md are you stranded?
TNJ Murray is in DE as mentioned and almost certainly have a number of them. There are some guys up in PA too.
Let us know what you'd like to do and if there's something you need (tools/a ride etc).
There are several guys in MD, might also...
There are many Deuce TM's listed on this site and elsewhere, some of which appear to overlap in topic and content, some of which are newer than others. I made a little list of the TM's I had and how they relate to each-other and thought I'd post it up. Forgive if this info is posted elsewhere...
I'll create a separate thread at some point here, but wanted to mention that I bought this from SS member Kaiserjeeps.
It came with the 105 and covers (obviously) along with a healthy list of extras including:
Spare Rockwell
5 Spare 11.00x20 NDT's (some new with rims)
Takeout LDS Multifuel...
Picked her up.
My first MV driving experience was backing it and the 105 down ramps from the flatbed it was shipped on...in the dark...in the rain/snow mix...fun
To be fair, we lowered the 105 by itself by putting a snatch block on the pintle of the Deuce and running a line from the 105...
