I know bumping an old thread.....
So I had issues with my new to me M936A2 fuel gauge, found this thread, went on an adventure. Some useful points about the system:
1) The ground for the gauges is the back of the panel via the hold down bracket. Found this out when my new fuel gauge has the...
Yes. The Allison needs to be in 5th. You can hear it shift when you get past about 1600rpm. That's where the 1700 number comes from. It's easy to miss and it'll actually work at 1500 pretty well but be sluggish as you said. It's been pointed out here a number of times. When you are new to the...
I'm testing the load from about straight aft to 90 right (as viewed from the gondola). Haven't tried other directions. The load is just under 3k#. According to a mechanic I ran into they tested full extension 5k# 360 so that's my goal. I'm going to reach out to this fellow that told me that: he...
Um.... WOW! I bought a historic plated M936A2 and went to the DMV. That was a mistake. What a shitshow. Then the CHP office told me they would NOT inspect it unless I had a letter from the DMV stating they would give it historic plates. "It's like a "humvee"" he said. Now I'm in limbo. Better to...
I see what you're saying. I've worked on ship steerage systems and deck crane systems that have such brakes. Also electrical and hydraulic elevator motors where brakes are essential. This system has a mechanical brake with adjustment for the hoist (I haven't looked inside but it has no pilot...
Well my UOA came back and the fluid is just fine. Actually the viscocity is a bit lighter than ISO 32 recommeneded after I put in a 5 gallon pail of AW 46 I had so I'm a bit suprised by that. Certainly the elimination of the fluid being a problem was worth the $30 for the analysis. No water in...
Those e-code lenses, H4 24V high output bulbs and adapters look like the ticket! About $150 for all the parts is pretty budget friendly (in comparison to other options).
Then I suppose the part was just flat out superceded.... I don't mind as it appears easy to get support for the Parker unit. Quick searches for the older Garwood/Hydreco unit yield little (if anything). Better knowledge base here for those than the manufacturer and all my TM's point to the new...
Here it is this motor is for an 816 or M543 what the heck it's doing on my M926A2 is very..... Army of the Army: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/wrecker-seals.12553/
OK so the top motor I have on the hoist and the bottom motor is on my rotator table. The TM points to both being the same part number which is a Parker 3169310251 as seen in the parts diagram posted. It's also known by it's NSN and Parker number PH PGM075C842**. I've found this motor for as low...
Yeah the TM's sure have a few weak spots (to say the least). The hydraulic tuning system (for the wrecker) is completely wrong. Would have been better to not say anything at all. Good thing I have experience with hydraulics elsewhere.....
The only reason I know the wheel weight positon is from...
If it helps any..... The M936A2 I bought had the wheel weights in the wrong spot. One stud off. I didn't know this until I refit all the valves to the latest style. By that time I'd bought the truck and driven it 2500 miles home across 8 states. The difference? Mild shakes up around 58-60mph on...
Yeah well those days are gone. I called around locally, got on the web, looked around quite a bit. I think I'm loking at just under $500 a drum. So that's a grand to change it. Kinda hoping that's what it is and not at the same time.... project is taking big bites. Blackstone is sending me some...
Haha thanks Wes. Actually I've been tempted to just get a hudson sprayer with WD-40 and just slather the thing......
So the charcoal color to the hydraulic fluid and the viscosity seemed a bit thick. You think it's possible those kids at RSMS stuck 10-40 in there years ago? Previous owner never...
OK well had some more time today to play. Got stuff done found stuff out. Here's what I found:
1) After settling overnight I pulled about 3 gallons of oil out of the tank into a bucket. It's a caramel color so there's stuff in it. No water though. I let that settle in the bucket for a few hours...
Thanks yes I agree. I ordered another filter because it was cheap enough to have a spare to swap. Also jaydog indicated his auto shutoff leaked by a bit so having one right there seems the ticket. I'll change it later this month when I get it. Meanwhile I'm going to let the tank settle and do a...
How's it going with the crane movement? Asking because I'm having issues on mine. Picked up my M936A2 in November and have been chipping away at it. I think it's exactly the way it came from RSMS MS and the more I work on it the less I think they may have tested before shipping..... For example...
Pretty sure the torque is accounted for with locking style nuts. I know this mainly from wrenching on racebikes where the rear sprockets use the same style. It's a critical component on the racetrack we paid attention.
This being my first Green Machine I'm noticing a lot more NF (national fine)...
Just finished the refit of CTIS QRV's on a 1991 BMY M936A2 this morning. I had to move the wheel weights up front around. 210-240 ft-lbs is what is spec'd in the TM's as well as the retrofit instructions supplied with the kits (for the split rim bolts; lugs are 450-500). This for stock A2 setup...
