Will start only with a squirt of starting fluid. Runs great once started.

Part of the pre start walk around checks is to turn the ignition on and open the bleed screw on the first filter to drain off any crap in the system. If you're pump failed you'll know it when you do this. That's how I found mine went kaput. Screw the $500 in tank replacement. Get a Walbro...

CA register a Humvee Street Legal in California

So just to be clear: nobody is breaking any laws. Except the state. They are breaking their own rules. The CARB referrals when going non-op aren't legal, the refusal to perform a VIN inspection isn't legal, I've been refused due to the odometer having under 7500 miles (not legal it's 2 years OR...

CA register a Humvee Street Legal in California

Yes. You can. Since I made the post above 15 months ago I have: -Gotten historic plates for my "1986" BMY M936A2. It's actually a 1991 but whatever. Had a Michigan title when I got it. The DMV threw me out on the way I wrangled a referral to CHP. The CHP didn't want to sign it so I challenged...

    Remove surge brakes from

What model trailer is it? I have an M1102 and you can defeat the hydraulic brakes by pinning the actuator so it doesn't slide. The military thought about this. They provided this so you can back a loaded trailer up a hill. That sure looks like my M1102 setup. Check your TM.....

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

There's a Walbro pump on fleabay right now for about half of new. It's a 6054 (6000 series). Not as fancy as the newer marine style ones but I have a 6067 on my truck and the damn thing is bulletproof. Mounted on the frame rail with new premium Parker sleeved fuel line and fittings. Pump will do...

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Well I guess this proves the minor debate (found in another thread) about whether or not the motor will prime if you've lost the tank pump and cracked open the system. The answer is "Probably not and if so it'll be a bitch!"

Putting IP back in and Timing Refresher

Try TM 9-2320-361-24-1, WP 0069 00 for the "Fuel Injection Pump Replacement". This is the field level manual meant for swapping the entire unit at the field motor pool level. While you are doing this remove the valve covers and adjust the lash. Use the procedure located at the end of WP 0031 00...

    All 6 tires airing down

There's a pressure switch on the wet tank for the CTIS. I think it's on about 120 and off at 90. On mine it's located on a cross fitting. You can jumper this for testing. When the hub seals go bad they might still work depending on the position they are in and how bad they leak. I never had...

    All 6 tires airing down

Stop. Unplug the CTIS module to prevent problems on the road until you get it working. Air up manually until you get it fixed. You've lost a hub seal. At least one. Make a test tool like the one in the TM. Unplug the lines to the wheels one at a time and test them. I've got a dollar that says...

    Thoughts on WAGO connectors

I've installed a lot of these. The only failure I've ever seen is when the push type (not the lever type) has been used on a solid wire that has some kinks in it (was in a wire nut previously). The contact was poor, it overheated and opened the circuit. Ever since finding that I always make sure...

M35a2 Super Singles Difference & Installation

Don't know about the tires but 3010-00-740-9623 ADAPTER, GEAR RATIO will get 395's on my '66 M35A2 real accurate on the speedometer like 2 or 3mph at 60. That's all I have for you....

    M35a2 Brake Light question

It's busted. Save some money and don't replace the stock one. Get an air side switch and convert it to that. I think Big Mike has them. I replaced my busted hydraulic one and it failed again a few hundred miles later. Waste of money. Air side switch has worked fine since.

    Power steering

Your constraints (inside frame, no cutting of fender) are limiting you to the air assist like the M35A3. If you want 5 ton power steering you're going to have to set up like a 5 ton. That means box on the outside of the frame rail, perch plate, drag link, etc.... To adapt to a M35 you'll have to...

    New Member - Southern California/Arizona

I was actually suggesting you wait to buy anything until you come to the meet and talk to some folks. Do some more research. A build like you're talking about is really going to add up. Best to talk to guys about what's worked for them. I would also suggest you look at the 939 platform for a...

    New Member - Southern California/Arizona

You should come to the MVCC spring meet and talk to some of the folks that have done this. IIRC they have done so on the M939 series of vehicles. They look pretty nice! Anyways you can try for a fancy spot at the RV resort or get the cheap seats in the fairgrounds next door. I'll be there with...

    New in-tank fuel pump

Mine was dead. Pulled it out it would spin if it was upside down. Since it's hard to keep fuel in the tank driving that way I figured a replacement was in order. Walbro 6067 sideways so I can get to the screen easy. If I didn't have a dump bed I would probably put it by the primary filter. Used...

    Elijah95s wrecker project

Well I have a 936 which is WAY different so I'm not sure what I'm looking at here. That said.... If I found something like that come out there is no doubt the thing would come apart for inspection/repair before I used it again to prevent it costing me more money. It certainly looks like a...

Where to send fuel injectors for service?

It'll cost more to ship them back and forth plus the test than the tools cost. That's why I set up to do my own. I also bought a spare set and spare nozzles as I plan to own and drive the truck for some time. If I paid myself the rate I charge others for the time saved I'm WAY ahead of the game.

    Elijah95s wrecker project

Tasty! You can shine a light in the hole and inspect the worm gear. Maybe an inspection mirror will help. The worm gear is 8320H carbon steel IIRC and case hardened. The gear that goes over the spindle is brass or a similar material. That gear is the wear point (and maybe was designed that way)...
