"My question is this: if I'm reading the wiring diagram correctly, I can delete wire 5 from the stock alternator to the Protective Control Box (PCB) and the stock starter system that includes the PCB will function as intended; true or false?"
The way I'm looking at it the schematic shows me...
Haha yeah YMMV="Your Mileage May Vary"
New fluid now aren't you fancy! I did the UOA because I wanted to skip the expense if I could. If you have new fluid you're good. I think the stuff in mine is at least ten years old and it's fine.
Post up what you find please. Wreckers are particular I...
I just did an upside down "U" and the gauge hangs under the cover. Easy to see but out of the way so I don't break it. A flow meter would be good but not sure if the data is really all that relevant. I mean.... pressure is where it's at it'll flow what it will. I would consider flow at a...
Well here's $0.02.....
-I think the TM is wrong about the pressure relief. I found mine from RSMS at 2100 psi. Tried the 1350psi in the TM it does not work well. Put it back to 2200psi works great. I think the TM is for maybe the 816 and never got updated.
-I can get the front tires off the...
Basically you need an out of state title. Doesn't matter if it's historical (mine had a MI historical didn't matter). CA DMV will give you a commercial plate regardless. Then you'll have to apply for historic. I did mine non-op, got a title, sent it back in for historic and am waiting word right...
It wasn't that hard. I crammed a bunch of YouTube and took it in my M936A2. They gave me a CDL class B with airbrake and auto trans. Whatever I just want to be legit driving my truck. The test guy had a good time I'll bet he remembers that for awhile.
Finally got my CA title! Had it for all of a couple days then sent it in for historic plate application. I went non-op with it to get the MI title to a CA title and not pay huge reg fees (the wrecker is 37k#). Anyways hopefully they won't give me too much grief. Love to hear anybodies story if...
I work on a lot of generators but not military ones. Nonetheless they all operate based upon few variations of the same principles. Post a schematic of your unit I may be able to offer some constructive advice.
Well this one went through RSMS in June of 2012 so it was VERY end of life. I'm finding a lot of stuff that indicates they just "checked the boxes" when they went over it. Fact that it's a wrecker shouldn't make a difference really. The 8.3 motor does indeed take exactly 20 quarts with a filter...
Nope. That's right. Just that the data plate indicates different pressures on an A2 truck (and therefore CTIS equipped) for front and rear. That would be a 2 channel system which it does not have. So maybe they intended to do so, made the data plates, product was phased out before...
Dunno they look right to me. Fluid quantities are correct I know from PM's on the vehicle. Split tire pressure is odd. Think it was something they planned on?
Nope. Swapped it over same thing. Firmware is holding the top at 80psi. You have to have the latest ECU for the 90psi. Hopefully Dana will get back to me I sent them screen shots of the software and explained I need to flash the firmware.
At the end of the day it will never be the "latest and...
Huh not sure why that would make a difference but I'll certainly try it and post the results! I have updated the wheel valves and had updated the pressure xducer but then swapped it back to OEM during some other troubleshooting (turned out it was a wheel seal going out). So back it goes! I've...
I'd like to thank @74M35A2 for posting the connectors this made my task much easier.
I made a breakout harness and did a lot of soldering. Got the 9-pin diagnostic broken out and used a DBA from a surplus STE/ICE kit with cable. Then I used a laptop and the Dana software. I can talk to the...
The best oil is lots of good oil changed on time with new filters every time.....
If you are concerned I suggest getting Blackstone Labs to send you some free UOA (used oil analysis) kits. When you change the oil you take a sample and drop the prepaid envelope in the mail. Costs $30 for the...
That's an excellent truck as well! I wouldn't be buying a custom unless I was down to just the mortgage. Been up to my eyeballs absolutely no fun. Ever since I paid it all off I've really enjoyed either paying cash or hefty downs and 0%. You can get a classic M35A2 later. Enjoy not feeding the...
Bumping an old thread.....
So I picked up one of these kits. Not so much for the connectors and cables but because it appears the be the least expensive way to get a Dearborn adapter. What do I want to do with it? Talk to and reprogram my CTIS on my M936A2. I'll have to make an adapter cable as...
That cover holds a stopper in position for no boost fueling adjustment. You should have both screws. The "tamper proof" are just 5 lobed style with a center hole and all injector pumps seem to have them these days. I don't use them often but need them when I do. Do yourself a favor and get a...
From what I understand talking to some motor pool guys that were stationed in AK the issue was moisture in the lines (for the most part) causing their malfunctions. Occurs to me that, on the truck I have at least, the air supply is right off the wet tank and there's a rather whimpy moisture...
Also you may have different crane motors. Either the Hydreco or Intertech/Parker. The Hydreco was an older motor and has no case drain. The Parker came later and replaced it. Some TM's have the older one, some the newer, some one of each (like my wrecker). They are functionally the same BUT some...
