If your A2 is like mine then the hazards are activated by first switching to right indicator then pressing down on the green tab on the top and moving the lever further right. I drove my M936A2 2500 miles home and got pretty used to doing this.
Somewhere on here there's a really good thread on...
Thanks yes I've setup a separate regulator off my shop air and string 125psi air over. Added an additional inline moisture separator as well. My compressor is in a location that can barely be heard where I work on my rig. Whatever the leak is it's pretty big. As the truck airs up my 5hp Quincy...
So I'm after my M936A2 CTIS system. Trying to get it operational. It fails and flattens the tires. I have a major leak or error someplace. The control solenoids are good, I've refitted the updated transducer, works as it should. Now I'm updating all the wheel QRV's and lines to the new style. As...
Well I have some similar issues I'm working through and am making some progress. Here's the advice I have to start:
-Get a shop air supply rigged up. You'll never be able to hear what's going on with the motor running. My shop I have plumbed at 80psi so I cut in another regulator I run at 125psi...
You can appeal this stuff. Maybe you have a chance for older, out of current use and mint condition MV's for historic plates (like my wrecker). They haven't given a good reason to deny you historic if it meets all the requirements. If you have a HMMWV you are screwed. The problem with historic...
It's bad. So bad I have to get permission from the state DMV before CHP will inspect my 1986 M936A2. I want historic plates. It has historic plates in Michigan mhere I bought it. They don't care. Insist it's commercial. So I'm writing a letter to the DMV in Sacramento.....
Here's what they are...
Hey thanks for posting those drawings! I'm not a hydraulic design guy so I have no idea why one seal area is vented and the other isn't but it's good to see confirmation and instruction we are doing the right thing by running a vent/drain per instructions. Does the other motor you have need a...
THAT truck is totally different! Catwalk is cool but I think I'm leaving mine stock. It's historical after all.....
Note the completely different hoist motor. Would it lift the same weight without gear reduction? Also note the drain line from the seal area on the top.
That's complicated. Depending on the load it may weep a little and may weep out a lot. Right? Personally I want the deck to stay clean because I rarely have a helper and don't want to slip on the deck running across it. In my experiment I ran about 6 feet of 1/4" tube back to the tank fill hole...
It's the design. All seals leak. Even mechanical fluid seals on water pumps and whatnot use the fluid as a lubricant and the tiny amout that gets by evaporates. Hydraulic rams, motorcycle forks, power steering rams, screw pumps, etc, etc... They all leak. If they didn't they wouldn't lubricate...
Yes. All the TM's have is a single part for the whole motor. I'm starting a whole file for all the stuff needed for this truck and would love to have it handy. Better yet I would love to see it with the rest of the M939 TM's so everybody can get to it.
Yep. Not only that but Tom is a class act and a great guy. He really went the extra mile. Picked me up at the hotel, stocked me with spares he could part with, went for a drive down to Harbor Freight with me to make sure I was good with the truck. He's super happy the wrecker went to somebody...
Wow. This should be sticked or something. Why? Because I think it just saved my butt! Lemme 'splain.....
I drove my new to me M936A2 across the country to home and stopped at family Thanksgiving on the way. I was letting the kids play with the crane and noted hydraulic fluid leaking out the...
Well alright sorry for the late update once I got back on home turf I just needed to unwind a bit. I made it about 2,400 miles in 5 days with one airline break/repair, a new fiberglass hard top installed, and some important lessons for cold weather (as well as an opportunity to test the ether...
Haha I figured it out needed to rev the motor more! Also finally got the horn working sure could have used that on the trip oh well.
Taking the kids out to do stuff like get doughnuts. Good times!
Thanks. Absolute you can feel it hit the stop. So after dark I skimmed through all 489 pages of the TM and am still at a loss how to unpin it. Seems a great thing to have. Any hints on where it's located?
Alright! Made it to Atascadero for family turkey day. Now for a couple days rest and getting the nieces and nephews to play with the crane. Only 150 miles to home and after 2370 miles in 5 days I think I'll be fine.
Quick question for those who operate wreckers: I played with for the first time...
Whew! Just thought I'd post an update real quick before taking some sleep. Started in Ogden got my hard top looks great. Got out of there about noon. Stopped about 30 miles shy of Barstow. 280 miles to Atascadero for family turkey day. From there on I'm on home ground. Truck is running great I...
Thanks Randy!
Pretty sure I'll be rolling through there but not sure about time available or when. Depends on what's up with my hard top tomorrow, how long it'll take to install, how much drive time I get. I'm running from Ogden to Atascadero and Vegas is halfway. Keeping it loose....
If you...
Ha my mileage count was off stupid fat fingers and cel phones. I'm a full keyboard kinda guy. Text to speech still not there yet.
It was 1,518 miles start to pit stop in about 50 hours. One roadside repair. Lots and lots of stops and brief walk around to stretch.
Mileage is between 6 and 6.5...
