That's not scarring in the housing, that's a debris pile :-?
We were "rescuing" an abandoned vehicle from a ravine with the winch and I put the truck into reverse on uneven terrain at the same time. A couple axle hops and the spider gears came apart accordingly.
Ill admit it wasn't my brightest...
Finally went after the front axle issue that I earned at Haspin about 5 weeks ago.
I had to use some special tooling to remove the axle shafts, but otherwise it was a straight forward disassembly.
Parts are on order.
My first Independence day with a Deuce.
Used Daisy to tow a junk motor home to a friends house on the morning of the 4th so we could blow it up and get his annual party started. Didn't imagine that she would end getting so much attention for the rest of the day/into the night from a majority of...
Got home about 2 hours ago here in MI. Have some cleaning and repairs to do but the stories were well worth it.
It was nice meeting you guys. Looking forward to future events!

I finally ran out of things to mend that caused concern with playing in the mud.
We should be there Friday at noonish, leaving Sunday at some point.
What MVs are you folks bringing out?
Was doing some reading a few weeks ago and found out how important the dog bone ends are. Mine were in horrible shape.
Shortly after, Daisy was on blocks for the replacement. Since I had the wheels off I repacked the bearings(again) and adjusted the brakes. I also took a peek at my trunnions and...
They told me over the phone this morning that they're allowed 1000 people per day. How many people usually show up for the rally? I've not been yet.
Doing bearings on the gooseneck so I can tow Daisy down there.

You're not wrong! Lol
I'm honestly burned out from worrying about more failures.
My current M.O. is just to keep an eye on all of her fluids and joints, and enjoy being an operator instead of a mechanic until something else needs to be dealt with.
Yes I have.
As far as being able to reliably use the truck as I please, I should be done with major repairs was my main point. Whenever I get time, (and this pandemic is in the past) I'm taking the bed off to install my scissor jack for the dump bed conversion. There's a list of improvements...
Figured this is a relevant addition to this old thread.
I came out basically at 5 grand so far. And still want to paint it someday.
-I didn't list any necessary fluids that were bought or obtained so I'm probably off by a few hundred bucks or so.
While the radiator was out 2 weeks ago:
-Tore down and installed new seals in the winch along with a new bottom rod and top plate
-Removed and resealed the hydraulic head and the booster pump on the injection pump
-Replaced all of the coolant hoses
-Replaced all of the injector return lines...
Digging up bones tonight. Relevant ones though
I'm paranoid about my winch drum and or shaft being bent as well. The drum spun freely in my case however. Really confused on why I had to beat the drum with a dead blow once it was about 40% off of the shaft.
Well since someone else already revived this thread,
I installed the factory PTO winch on my Kaiser M35 over an electric powered unit solely because I planned on using it regularly for dragging logs out of the woods. Didn't want to worry about burning up an electric motor.
I will confirm after...
Well,
we finally decided on a name for my M35:
Daisy.
Went out into the woods about 3 weeks ago and got a rather large load of firewood. On the ride home I noticed a different vibration than normal so I sidelined her until I had time to investigate and repair it.
I finally had the time last...
Got my winch working about 2 weeks ago.
I'd say the truck has been nearly twice as useful ever since. I've been using it regularly for winching out large trees from deep in the woods, and even got to use it yesterday to winch a plow truck off of its frame rails and out of the ditch.
Also finally...
Drained my trans and assembled my dual output PTO yesterday. Was able to install it (barely) this morning with two .010 gaskets and got an appropriate amount of backlash (judging it by hand.)
If I had to do it again, I'd never try to install both PTOs at the same time. The rear output housing...
The first time I bled the brakes on my truck, I was able to get a decently solid brake pedal with absolutely no air pressure at all. Are you sure you're not also losing brake fluid somewhere?
