Another small thing - just so you know - the 939 Series of trucks includes what you have and the others that look similar. A 936 for example is the "wrecker variant" in the 939 Series of trucks. Most of the things in the cab are the same in that line of vehicles. The -10 (Dash 10) TM...

With a gorgeous pair of Droopy Tailed Phantoms behind the fancy dodge...
Sweet!
Amazing that the one truck almost looks like Times Roman Bold - and the newer version is Helvetica Narrow
.
My experience with these trucks is a piece of cardboard covering about half the radiator makes the old guy behind the wheel much happier in cold weather. Naturally it requires a functional temperature gauge - but in really cold weather - I never had to remove that cardboard.

For what it's worth, back in the days of the Linotype and the folks who built fonts for printers and their machines there was no Amarillo font. Now days, folks can create their own fonts and there are "paid" fonts and "free" fonts. A quick Web search finds "Amarillo USAF" fonts by the dozens...

If I was laying under the truck - looking up from the bottom - the plug opposite the hose, I think I would be happy enough to fit a mechanical temperature sensor there. I see plenty of room for the wire (metal) to run safely there.
Only question is the sensor. Will it fit in that hole...
.
Thinking so, but I sure can't say for sure. If you haven't already headed to the store, draining some coolant and taking that plug with you might be a good plan.

Often times you can fix a "boogered" thread with a knife edge file. The cutting edge on that sort of file comes down to less than 1/8th of an inch and you can carefully clean up the threads if you take your time.
Another idea is a thread chaser that does the same job as the knife edge file -...

I'm sure that I spent more time than a normal electrician when I wired my house. The inspector was even impressed. Romex cable was all turned with the writing down. No twists, all nice and neat... The breaker panel was almost as neat as these VERTEILUNG panels. Only thing he wanted was to...
.
And a three phase panel is the same deal. 1,2,3 would equal 120+120+120 or three phase power. The breaker panel and how it is designed is how that works. Breakers for that are "clustered" into threes.

Or you could ask one of the moderators to move and rename your thread to something like 1953 Air Force GMC 452-30 or something similar.
Just use the "Report" button and ask to have it moved.
The guys generally respond to that sort of stuff pretty quickly.
I could report it but if YOU do...

That red button powers a "split rear axle". Brand. Who knows, but I would guess there will be a tag on the side of the rear end. Short version is that most times - unless really heavily loaded - you can run in low (button down) and shift to high when you are making about 40/45.
The Ford...

My M1089 had a heck of a problem with "standing up" from the stowed position. Extending the boom, then rocking it back and forth made it work. Using LOTS of WD-40 on those two uprights finally made it start working as it should. You might spray a few cans of WD on everything that moves on...
