    2016 TX MV Rally

Trail Boss, I'm assuming you were talking about our M1010, as far as the ambulance picts are concerned. I posted a couple of picts earlier in this thread. About to post those again, along with picts from Mabry, on the thread we started for the restoration of that unit.

    2016 TX MV Rally

Thanks for the kind words. This was our 1st display, and of course, I didn't get to do everything I wanted to. I plan on expanding it with more mannequins. So we'll have the patient and attendant outside, plus patients and attendant inside, plus a driver. If I get all the mannequins in, in time...

    2016 TX MV Rally

So...... Did ANYONE ELSE have any problems with D.P.S. on the way up there or the way back? We took the M1009 and M1010 up there Thursday. Got pulled over by 3 DPS units in the Woodlands. 1st they said it was because they thought we were impersonators of some kind, and then they couldn't figure...

    2016 TX MV Rally

We plan to be there helping Manning. At a MINIMUM, I expect to have the M-Gator we restored for him there. Depending on the moods of the MV Gods, we may also have our 1009 (if the boy behaves and earns the right to drive it. Teenagers. Who can tell) or the M1010, or our other M-Gator, or a...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Thanks. We're road testing it around Houston Freeways right now, driving for longer and longer periods of time and distance to make sure all the drive train parts are up to snuff. We ARE keeping the Attendant's Jump seat. While crews did not use this on a regular basis, it was used. Especially...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

THIS PROJECT IS..........FINISHED!!!! Well,,,,,,,,,,,,, mostly. Little fiddly bits of clean up and stuff to do, BUT, the paint is finished, the heater now works as does the Patient Compartment AC. Sometime later, we may make it camouflage instead of straight O.D., but that's for later. The Army...

    gator gun mount

I could be wrong, but it looks like they did some extensive reinforcements in the back. Under the Litter frame by the passenger's leg, it looks like they added an another Support post, going through the plastic cover and mounted to the frame underneath.

    gator gun mount

Cooool Picture. The 2nd Gator we're restoring, "originally" had a pedestal mount, set up in the bed instead of the front. Our original plan was to duplicate with a propane/dummy .50. And a dummy/propane SAW in front of the passenger on an articulated arm. The original mount had really done...

New to me M Gator A1

You should replace ALL fluids any way. Along with flushing the fuel tanks, water separator below it, fuel lines, radiator, etc etc, just like any other used military vehicle. But ALL M-Gators are hard to push as dead weight.

    Xm-161 mutt-vee

Not now. Mebbe after we're finished tweaking it.

    Xm-161 mutt-vee

I remember seeing one of the original 408's at the Dallas Militaria/Military Vehicle show regularly. Of course that was until it died (the show) after 9/11. The extended 4 wheeled type are fairly common here in Texas. The company's big money maker for it's West Texas Facility, were the Safari...

    Xm-161 mutt-vee

Very True. I think the timing had something to do with it as well. 1988/89. Fall of the Berlin Wall,,,,, the "Peace Dividend". DOD was starting another one of it's scale downs..... We know of two other MILITARY versions. Both owned by Steel Soldier Members. One is a 6 wheeled version like...

    Xm-161 mutt-vee

The company who made them was up in North Texas. Their idea was to make them as a support vehicle to fill the gaps between the Humvee and the CUCV in the 80's. They were using surplus M151 Parts, and their attempted selling point to the military was that they already HAD a large number of 151...

As promised in a different thread, here are some more picts of the XM-161 Muttvee.

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Weather is finally cooperating with us. As soon as unit comes back from AC shop, it's off to the paint shop. Before we sent it out, we FINALLY got finished (sort of) the liner in the front cab. There's still some areas that need little final touches, but over all we're finished. NEXT time...

    I "HATE" John Deere!!!!

What I'm thinking, is I'll start another thread on the XM-161, here in the ATV section since it IS an All Terrain Vee Hickle, but it's NOT a M151 or Humvee. Give me time to take some more picts.

    I "HATE" John Deere!!!!

My frustration and angst with "scooter" as the owner calls him, was his attitude and his in-ability to even try and think outside of very narrow parameters, defined by the computer. m16ty, we've been staying away from posting on the XM-161, or "MUTTVEE", because we didn't want to get into a...

    I "HATE" John Deere!!!!

Well,,,,, the rain has gone away (temporarily) and we're getting parts in from John Deere. Starting to get parts back from the Sand Blasters as well, and getting them painted. Also included here, is a couple of picts of the Garrison M-Gator with it's BIG Brother, the XM-161.

    M-Gator Presented to OUR FRIEND.

We have finished the final parts installation, and final art work. (RORY, any resemblance between Kilroy and a certain Coonass in Lampassass is ENTIRELY INTENTIONAL, although Kilroy's nose is still smaller than Alan's) Delivery to his home is expected to be done next week. We added the Medical...

    Gator issues

Sweet lookin Gator!!! I understand and agree with the decision to go green. That's the direction we're going with right now. When we got the "ARMY" gator, I wanted to call it the "Franken-Gator". The outside of the bed had been over painted Black, and then over painted CARC Tan. Likewise both...
