    Looking to buy an m725

Not to beat a dead horse into the ground, but the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that they are going to have a free webinar on April 28th, concerning Ambulance Crashes. Their data shows that between 1992 and 2011, there were approximately 4,500 ambulance...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Yeah. I'm sure that there are many stories like ours. I got over pretty quickly with a couple of shots of good Lowland Single Malt.

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Yeah...... can laugh about it NOW. But the frustration started when I got the M1009, and needed to replace the GROMMETS on the rear where the antenna cables come into the vehicle. Having relatives in the Commercial Distilling industry, my 1st thought was barrels, and bung plugs in barrels. KNEW...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Once again, CUCVRUS has come to the rescue. With his help, I now have good black out curtains on both of the back doors, and both doors are complete with holding rods now. If using salvage black out curtains for replacements,,,, BE CAREFUL. DO NOT expect the holes to line up perfectly. They...

    Looking to buy an m725

I wasn't the driver in any of those instances. So I have no way of telling what speeds we were doing. But, as way of explanation, out of a total of 8 Civilian/Military roll overs in ambulances, over a 30+ year career, as a medic, only 3 of those instances, was the vehicle on a curve. (all...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Getting ready to re-install the seats and seat belt assemblies to see how that will work with the rubber mat. Used the same spray dye I used on the door panels for the seat belt mechanisms and parts of the seat belts themselves that had gotten sun faded. Worked very well.

    Looking to buy an m725

Please understand, I am NOT trying to pick a fight. BUTTTTTT, when I was in the service, I was personally in a 725, once in Germany on the Autobahn and twice in the U.S., that were tipped over from high winds. Have also been in what are called the "HIGH TOP" van type civilian ambulances on U.S...

Looking for Pict of Gator with Recoilless

OK.... Search successful,,, sort of. Found this pict. Which I believe shows a Polaris 6 wheel, not a M-Gator. And it's not the pict I was looking for specifically.

    Looking to buy an m725

I agree. The 1st MV I ever owned was a 725, converted by U.S.A.F. into a radio truck. The 1st thing we did, was take the Jeep Tornado Slant 6 engine out, and dropped in a Small Block Chevy 305. Then had trans and all other running gear upgraded. Also keep in mind the previous post about...

    Our Dragoon

In this specific vehicle, Engine, Transmission, and Axles, are all interchangeable with the 5 tons. That's why I say it won't be difficult to get a replacement. The operator's controls inside, are from the M113/M114 Family. The Diesel engine specifically was used because when this family of...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

While we were down there anyway messing with the floor cover, decided to take the side vent covers off. This allowed us to thoroughly clean them, and using the same spray dye we used for the door panels, re-dye them, and cover up some O.D. Over Spray, that got past the masking, when we were...

First time CUCV owner - What should I do for initial PM/upgrades?

Here's the question you should have asked FIRST............ What did the previous owner do to it?

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

We're stillllll fighting with the floor cover. When we first got it out of the box, we noticed indentations in the material. Our 1st thought was that they were matching locations of the bolts for the seats. Then when fighting it into the truck, and tried to line up the back edge, they didn't...

Looking for Pict of Gator with Recoilless

I'm in search of a picture. Somewhere in the past of the innerwebs, I came across a picture of an M-Gator at an FOB, in Afghanistan, with a Recoilless Rifle mounted on the back. Anyone know where that pict is on the inner web?

Too true!!! Engine appears to be FUBAR. While a replacement will not be hard to find, shop where it is located, is on a 30-60 Day hold on this project. They have a Gov. Contract that they have to attend to first.

Appreciate the suggestion for the propane heater. Unfortunately it is currently housed in a commercial shop next door to our store here in Spring. It would probably be a baaaaad idea to leave a propane heater going in someone else's shop. Also, with this restoration, we're trying to get back...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Got both the new Hood Release Assembly and the Parking Brake Assembly installed. Have laid down the rubber matting for the floor mat. Now waiting for temp and gravity to take their course, and have the matting somewhat mold it'self to the floorpan before we start any kind of trimming. I have...

Yeahhhhhh..... clean sheets every night, mess hall tables with linens... they got it rough. But you haven't seen upset until you see a cargo pilot when he finds out someone forgot the Capri Sun Juice pack, in their Air Force Issue in flight Box Lunch!!!

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Received the tire tools I needed today from CUCVRUS (thanks again). Jack, Lug Wrench, and Jack Extension Arm. Picts show them loose and mounted in position. For the M1010, there is a small holding clip, underneath the foot ramp, between the two seats. One end of the Jack Extension Arm rests...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Work on the back roof and panel now finished. Thanks to CUCVRUS who got me the replacement clips I needed, no worries now about the roof panel flying off, when driving the vehicle. It'll stay up there out of the way, until we can get the vehicle into the paint shop for it's face lift (new...
