It wasn't so much that the C's were Better than what they were eating....(they weren't) it was more to do with the fact that the AF guys were REMFS and were extreme suckers for any kind of trinkets that they were told were "war" booty. ESPECIALLY FLIGHT CREWS. Even today, flight crews on the...

Looking for Suggestions for my CUCV II

Depended on the vehicle, and it's usage. As a SAC-BRAT through the 70's, I can tell you the ONLY time I ever saw a USAF vehicle with decal markings vs painted, was on Senior Officer's vehicles, at the Puzzle Palace (Pentagon) and at Offut AFB.

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Going back to an earlier post,,,, I mentioned the Litter Back Rests, and showed a picture from GL of one. Thanks to MWMULES, we have have a couple, and here are the picts. The "cover" remains on the metal rests for padding/reinforcement. The back rest can be set into an almost vertical position...

I think I might have a 30/50 turret set up on my V, thoughts

Here's an interior shot from an ASV-150, showing the turret basket. I know it's not exactly what you wanted, but it's the ONLY pict I've got in my files that might help

I think I might have a 30/50 turret set up on my V, thoughts

Did you happen to take any picts of the system before you got rid of it? Trying NOT to go down the road you are on right now, I.E. Turret, annnnnnd all the accessories. This is a lot of HAAARD work you're going through on this turret. I truly admire you and the others who have had the patience...

I think I might have a 30/50 turret set up on my V, thoughts

Pretty sure you are right. Keep this thread going,,, am stealing picts and taking notes for our project!!! Have a Semi 1919 for ours, and client is thinking possibly a Flame Thrower beside it. The AGRICULTURE KIND FOLKS, not military. They use them in the winter to keep citrus plants from...

Door panels now on. Another word of caution with the spray dye. GIVE.....IT......TIME......TO....CURE. If you don't, it will easily rub off or gouge.

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

About to put the Driver's Compartment Door panels back on the doors. Went with Option "B", and dyed the panels with the Maroon Spray Dye from LMC. Couple of things to know for anyone thinking of doing same. 1st, 1 can should be enough to do 2 panels well. Be patient and do repeated light coats...

Here's another pict of one of the back doors, with the new weather seal in, paint complete. All they're waiting on now is the replacement black out curtains.

    Our Dragoon

Yeah, compared to the dragoon, the V-100 driver's area is roomy. And you are correct, lots and lots of blind spots. That is why in addition to a different mirror system in the front, we're planning on putting in cameras, for 360 degree vision. Not so much as a military/tactical consideration...

    Our Dragoon

I've seen interior picts of the Current ASV, and they kept the bench, but added a back support that will fold completely back and down, like a chaise lounge back. But they're still reserved for smurfs only. AHAB, there's not a lot of truly documented history on the Dragoons. Ours is...

    Our Dragoon

No offense considered/or taken. One of the things we are considering, is some kind of modification to the front seat area, and making it a single space for the driver. One of the many things different from the V-100/150's, (I think. scrammed brain right now) is that the seats are actually a...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Very Cool!!! You'll need to make sure you take plenty of pictures to show us!!!!!! We're working on the M1010 almost everyday. Right now, we're waiting on parts, and some things we're having fabricated..... fiddly bits. But we're also trying to finish up the Karcher TFK trailer (trailer...

    Our Dragoon

Oh don't get me wrong. We're NOT crying sour grapes. We knew what we were getting when we bought it. And we're VERY happy with it. It could be worse!! It could be SOVIET. On my "wish list" is an Israeli-Captured BTR-80 Series. Saw them in Israel when I went to Israeli Jump School. The...

    Our NEWEST project: M1010 Ambulance

Back at work on the "fiddly Bits". Weatherstripping on the back doors was shot. They also needed a fresh coat of paint, on the inside. Mission accomplished. I included a picture of the weatherstripping package, to show what kind I used. It's got an adhesive strip on the back, so it's a very...

    2015 TX MV Rally

I've been asked to sorta remind y'all who Carlos is, based on my last post. Almost all know who Carlos is, even if you didn't realize who it was. Carlos is the 2nd "Original Man in Black". Carlos and his wife have been in the Surplus/Re-Enacting community here in Texas since the 70's. If...

    Our Dragoon

Yeah,,,,,,, I realize that we were ALL a lot skinnier when we were in the service. And I was light infantry, so we either walked or flew to wherever we were going. The only times we thought about armor and their crews was when we were either trying to get as far away from them as possible...

    2015 TX MV Rally

It is with a heavy heart that I post this message to all friends of Carlos Manning. After returning home this afternoon, from the event, Carlos was advised that his wife's health has taken a major turn for the worse. Carlos is now with her, at her daughter's house in Houston. MD's have...
