The new bolts arrived today so I reinstalled the starter. Cranked it over for a few seconds with the injector pump disconnected as well as started the truck normally a few times just to test it out a little bit. So far so good so hopefully that problem is in the past!
Awesome, thanks! The bracket is also installed so I’m good there, I’ll confirm those bolts are still tight once I install the main starter bolts as well just to be sure.
No worries, I appreciate the help. O’reilys has this listed as the bolt specs. So hopefully someone has a few extra laying around and can measure to confirm.

Thanks for the reply. I have a cheap “speed out” remover which thankfully worked great. It was broken off up in the block but I was just able to reach it and back it out. So at least that part of the problem is solved!
That is a good point about the bolt lengths/shims. When I purchased the...
So somehow during the process of reinstalling my starter today one of the starter bolts broke. It was already installed and was cranking the motor over and when I got out of the truck I saw a bolt laying on the floor, it sheared off inside the block. Two questions, what size bolt are these (they...
I’m not sure this would happen suddenly but I had a similar issue after replacing my brake system. Turned out it needed to be bled more as there was still a pocket of air in the system and also my rear shoes needed to be adjusted closer to the drums. It’s worth checking while you’re troubleshooting.
How much did they help ride quality? I went with standard shocks, I was tempted to go with the bilsteins but wasn’t sure it would be worth it with the 10 leaf pack in the rear 😂
Its probably best to confirm if they mean wheel bearing or spindle bearing as they are separate things. I’d suggest just going to rock auto and look under 1984 k30. Under brake/wheel hub you can find wheel bearings broken out by front/rear inner/outer. Spindle bearings are in a separate section...
On the bracket/rod I purchased it came with that stud already installed. I believe you could just purchase this, secure it to the rod, and then attach your tv cable clip to it...
It looks like you’re missing the stud on the rod to which the clip on the end of the cable attaches to. Essentially the stud on the injection pump where the rod attaches, there is a similar stud on the rear end of the rod where the cable connects. I don’t have any exact pics showing what you...
Last night I finished up the rest of the balancer install. Changed out the front crank seal as well. I think it was Sharecropper on here that had a great idea, just purchase a m16x1.5x70mm long bolt to get the balancer half installed prior to switching to the standard bolt length. The TM says to...
I got it from glow shift gauges. It fits pretty well, I think it’s intended for trucks that have a headliner but it still looks fine as is. Gauges themselves were auto meter.

Yeah it’s on the list to change out those gaskets. Unfortunately I have to use the truck this weekend so I won’t get to them this time (other than the crank seal) but I plan on getting back into it later in the year. I guess that’s what I get for having this as my only truck to get stuff done...
Tonight I decided to get started with changing the harmonic balancer. There has been some vibration at idle so I figured I’d change it just to be sure. Nothing that causes the motor to shake and visually it runs smooth as can be, just creates some vibrations that can be annoying in the cab. I...
Took the ole lady out for its first camping trip this weekend. Even just being a little over 3k lbs with these hills around here I was putting that 6.2 to work but overall did well!
Over the past few days I got the grill put together and also painted/installed the brush guard. The grill that was on the truck when I bought it was pretty smashed up so I bought a new one and notched it out for the blackout drive light. Then painted it black.
I also added a pillar gauge pod...
