Nope, not correct. Essentially #6 and #11 are both referencing the same single check valve mounted under the clamp, right next to your oil pressure gage, just the first image isn't really accurate in it's orientation.
Item #45 is just a 90* brass NPT to Flare adapter, no check valve that I have...
Originals are typically green or tri color camo, and engine gages are pretty bland / plain looking with blue rear housings on the gage body with red caps in the bulb socket holes, sometimes don't have the Quad Fuse mod. ( 3A fuse mounted to the left of the voltage regulator )
Tier2 reset are...
I agree that pump timing is not the issue. It worked before, so the timing button is correct and the plunger hasn't skipped in the plunger guide because it starts up and runs fine for a while. Skipped plunger guides are difficult starting and the heads get hot quick.
I use both Acetone in the...
Welcome aboard... let us know when it arrives and how she looks..... anything that at least rolls over should be fairly easy fix.
And luckily you've got a few of us within driving distance with experience and spare parts, if things don't quite go according to plan!
What did you get? Year, hours...
There was a time, back when I first started playing with the 002/003's that I had the "bright idea" to unplug one of the main pumps to "save" it for when needed, thinking that by leaving 1 running and 1 turned off I would extend the life of the "off" pump..... let's just say that mindset was...
Ah, it won't be that bad... ( hopefully ) just need to exorcize the demons that moved in over time.
Fuel gage issue is 99% likely to be a bad sending unit. Search this site for info on replacing it with a 5.5" WEMA marine sender.
It's very easy, about $55 ( cheaper if you go with a no name China...
+ on the air leak ( in suction side upstream of pumps ) check lines, fittings and the dip tube inside the tank.
You won't see any fuel leaks because it's on the suction side.
On the 002 / 003 you have an external fuel lever assembly, not an internal rack, therefore when the machine begins to...
Definitely sounds like fuel starvation to me too, but the smoke has me puzzled.
Typically they don't smoke like that when starved for fuel.
I'm thinking 2 things, fuel starvation or possibly insufficient air flow.
I wonder if you could be getting CO building up in the shed if the air outside is...
Poke around a little, you'll find several threads about using the bottle from a Suzuki Samurai ( 1987 vintage )
Available on the internet for like $15'
You need to alter the hoses slightly, but it fits right into the bracket with 2 big zip ties.
Something else to keep in mind, clicking of the fuel pumps doesn't mean they are working properly. You have 2 pumps in line with each other and each pump has 2 check balls in it, one on the inlet and one on the outlet. If any of those 4 check balls gets stuck open or closed your fuel delivery...
Regarding your parts machine, the missing parts will be quite expensive to source individually.
I have everything you need, but my suggestion would be to get the engine running first.
If you could find a complete parts machine nearby for a reasonable price, that would be your most cost effective...
I'd start and the end of the line as well, and work backwards. Sounds like you have some contacts welded shut somewhere or shorted wires.
disconnect the small signal wire from the silver starter solenoid to the right of the K1 relay, ( not the glow plug solenoid right next to it ) behind the...
The TM is located in the TM section at the top of the forum page. go through the menu and get yourself to the generator section, then find the mep-002 and 003 section. Get the 5-6115-585-34 Intermediate and Depot level maintenance manual, go to Pg. 136 and begin reading.
You need to have the...
Definitely don't idle or operate under 56 Hz or so.... without disconnecting the excite wires, you WILL very likely damage the VR transistors if it's run at low RPM too long.
Don't worry about operating without a load, the prior owner was probably thinking more about the older single cylinder...
The IP can seem intimidating the first time you do one. There are a couple simple tools I've made to make it a lot easier, but it is doable without these tools.
If you read the TM, it explains how to properly set the engine in the right position ( cyl. #1 on the compression stroke with "PC"...
If you end up being unsuccessful, I'd suggest listing it for sale in the classified section. I'd guarantee there are SS members reading this that would be willing to purchase it for the right price and repair it.
If you were a little closer I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
Humm.... couple thoughts.
Often times the plunger guide will skip 90* rather than split in half and stop the plunger from turning.
When the plunger guide skips it throws the fuel injection timing way off.
This will usually still run but 3 bad things happen.
1) the engine will be very hard and...
Removing and rebuilding the IP is the only way I know of to free up stuck plungers.
While you're in there upgrade to the 1 piece steel weight basket and coupler instead of the OE rubber coupler.
They are available on Ebay for around $75 or maybe $125 for a rebuild kit with the steel coupler...
If I follow you correctly you are curious as to why you are seeing fuel in the return lines with the machine not running?
If so, this is normal, the return lines and supply line to the IP are connected together.
The base of the Tee fitting coming out of IP top cover should have a glass ball...
