    R.I.P.--73M819--Ron Harris

I’m glad you found us. Your dad was a fixture around here for many years. He loved his big green iron and was always happy to impart his wisdom on new members. We still miss him an awful lot 😔

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

Sorry it has been so long since I updated this post. I got everything done and the truck on the road, but didn’t get all of the pics and info posted. I’m going to try to go back and do it from memory. After installing the soft top, I had to add a few things to make it road legal in WV. First, I...

    Transmission code 74 help needed

I hate when people post these threads asking for help and then don’t share about the resolution of the issue. I realized this morning that I was one of those people. Sorry 😂 I ended up borrowing a TCM from Mogman. It allowed my truck to run through all 4 gears, but the shift points were a...

    Transmission code 74 help needed

I checked continuity and resistance at the D3/D4 and it’s definitely in spec. Hate the thought of buying another TCM, but I can’t think of any other possibilities.

    Transmission code 74 help needed

Okay thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something else. I will pull the cover off of the TCM box and see if the resistance matches what I’m seeing at the TISS. I think it was around 1350 and it’s supposed to be between 1000-2000. I did clean the trans connector thoroughly with...

    Transmission code 74 help needed

Was just reading in the TM and it described how the fan cutoff switch and the TP sensor are used to tell the transmission when to kick down. My fan has been acting a little erratically and when I looked at the fan time delay module the other day, it looked like there was some green silicone like...

    Transmission code 74 help needed

Tried that a couple of days ago. No change unfortunately

    Transmission code 74 help needed

Canon plug looks good. Only corrosion was on the test socket on the TCM box because soldier B left the cap off. The inside of the TCM is clean and dry.

    Transmission code 74 help needed

As I mentioned in my post, I already followed the troubleshooting guide for code 74 by checking resistance across the TISS and checking for continuity of the TISS wires. I don’t have a Tech 2, so haven’t tried jacking the truck up and increasing the speed to 10mph.

    Transmission code 74 help needed

Hey guys, Sorry I haven’t updated my M1152A1 build thread in a while. Got busy with some family activities this summer and slacked off. I will update it soon! That said, I have been driving my HMMWV to work and around town some. The transmission seemed to be working pretty well after I worked...

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

Finally finished the soft top install this evening, and It was just as big of a PITA as you might imagine! I will NOT be removing it anytime soon LOL. My hands will probably hurt for two or three days after all of the grabbing and stretching trying to get it locked into place. Oh well, it’s done!

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

Finished the rest of the seatbelts and seats today! The seat bases from Midwest made the job very straightforward. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a pain to get everything lined up just right, but it was straightforward. I really like the heavy steel battery box cover/seat mount for the...

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

More accomplished on the M152A1 this weekend! I started out by installing the new airlift seals in the hood. Then, I replaced a broken stud in the Rhino tire carrier and installed the tire. After that, I bolted on the tach, wiper motor, and visors. Next, I repaired the broken doghouse cover by...

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

More progress over the weekend! I started out by installing the front marker lights, turn signals, headlights, and blackout driving lights. After that, I moved on to installing the left and right splash guards and a new hood prop rod. I need to install the new airlift hook gaskets on the hood...

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

I’ve been making some good headway with reassembly over the last few weekends. I got the last of the parts hung up and sprayed, the tire carrier installed, light and signal switches installed, fuel filler surround installed, reflectors installed, taillights gutted and reassembled with Trucklite...

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

No big updates since we were out of town for the last two weekends. This week, I am starting the reassembly process. I also have to mask and string up the last of the parts to get ready to spray them black this weekend. My Rhino tire carrier showed up at Blue Lane freight last week and I picked...

    Steelsoldiers’ BIG M1152A1 HMMWV Project!!

Thanks! I used the 2 gallon pail and covered the floors and drivetrain tunnel. I probably could have used an extra gallon to make it a little thicker in spots, but knew I was covering it in Raptor Liner, so stuck with 2 gallons. I did not do the doors. The manufacturer already coated the insides...
