for clarity you put the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in like 4th gear which is 1-1 ratio then use a bar to turn the engine with the jackshaft
Ok it's critical that the tip in the end of the rod is engaged to the sliding collar in the pump. If it is correct you should be able to rotate it towards the firewall and let go and it should return to the 7 0'clock position. The fuel shutoff cable only pulls the lever. It has to return to the...
There is a procedure usually used for starting up an engine that has been sitting for some time. Usually change all the fuel filters and put some fresh fuel in the system. Check to make sure the in tank pump is working and bleed the fuel system up to the hydraulic head. Remove the shutoff cover...
I would pull the shutoff cover and make sure the lever springs back to the 7 o'clock position. If its sticky that could be your issue. You can spray some penetrating oil and cycle it back and forth to free it up. When they are stuck wide open that is what causes a run away engine. You were lucky...
Be sure to fill the drums up completely. Any air space will allow moisture in the air to rust the inside over time. The best drums to use are former gasoline drums because they are coated on the inside to prevent rust. I also put some water beads in a piece of stocking placed in the drum to...
The thermostat is to set the minimum temperature for the engine. The cooling system will reach equilibrium of heat generated with radiator ability to reject the heat. If the high temperatures are due to system capacity them opening the thermostat at a lower temp only delays the time it takes to...

You may have to use some plumbers putty to seal around the bottom edge. If you have enough of the remaining terminal left to shape the mold this will work.
I would replace all the filters as Gimp suggested. I also would check the make sure the fuel shutoff is in the 7 o'clock position if not hard starting can result. The in tank pump should give you good flow at the secondary filter bleed port. If all that is good it should start...
