M246 in the busted hydraulic hose club

The Austin Western beds have a goofy "ermetto" (I think) thread fitting. All of the hoses I've had burst on my truck, I've had braised onto standard hose fittings so I can use cheap hoses instead of $$$$$ hoses!

LDS bellhousing into a deuce? Mounts?

A ghetto cure for the 3-4 gap is to start in low range Tcase, run through the gears(1 through 5), shift to high range and use 4 then 5. Its not the greatest, but works ok.

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

I have had to pull my batts out and charge them individually. I don't think the charger built-in is very good. Once things are in place and working, make sure they don't get drained!

    Tale of two Deuces

I have a battery equalizer if you want to run 12v stuff. It allows you to run 12v off one battery and not kill your system(PM if interested). For your reading pleasure... https://info.waytekwire.com/blog/equalizers-in-dual-voltage-systems-what-and-why

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

No reason to swap motors unless the block has a hole in it. An LDT can be tuned to make LDS power especially if you swap in the LDS rocker arms.

    Deuce external fuel pump?

Why not just use a 12v version of the in-tank fuel pump? The exact same body, just a 12v version. Can be found on ebay easily.

Dogging in front med duty wench

Be careful with this, please. Once there is a load on it, you usually need to press in the clutch to stop the pull! Many members here have ruined their radiator cause they drug the winch hook around the drum.

    GAH! Those chicken legs!

Anyone ever half cover a deuce cargo bed?

I have run my deuce with an LMTV cargo cover. One time I ran with the sides and rear in the raised position and the top of the cover separated at the seams. I will not make that mistake again!

Deuce and a half questions about transmission

I have seen and driven that A3 in Indiana, its a good truck! I'd be torn between the A2 and A3 only cause the A3 has no overdrive. I love shifting gears! I love multifuel! The cat has more power! Air assist steering is awesome! Tough call, but if I were to choose between them, I'd go for the...

Take it to a shop and ask for an estimate. Then you have a baseline to go off of.

When you stop at the registration area, just inside the fence will be an area to your right(big pond). That is where most of us will be.

    Opening up the rockwells…

You could always put the wrench on and drive the truck to loosen them. An impact is the way I'd go, but its not an absolute. Just sayin.

    Tale of two Deuces

If you decide you want some spare secondary filters, I have them with the correct gaskets for $5 each plus shipping. Might have some new injectors too, will advise. Nice work on the trucks so far! Its funny how long these can sit for and start with minimal effort.

    M101a2 Spring Help

Well, the A3 has stronger springs than the A2, but whatever. OP, I would pull the bottom 3 or 4 springs and see how the ride is for you. You could try counting how many are in the pack and pulling half depending on your idea of ride quality. It just takes time to get it right.
