Welcome to the area, I am down by Kenwood mall. I recommend bypassing the FDC to everyone as it ONLY SERVES TO LIMIT THE FUEL TO YOUR MOTOR and is a known leaker of fuel into your lubricating oil.
Yes you still need to watch EGTs, but they don't climb as quick if you don't have a turbo.
PM me...
You guys say that like there is power steering in these trucks! BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Do you realize the bracing needed to hold everything in place for a U-joint? The torque applied to the steering wheel will be transmitted down the line.
Home and unloaded.
12hrs round trip.
Thanks again to M16ty and Scar59!
How's it military realated you ask? Well the spool gun and accessories are mil surplus and the oxygen compressor will be filling my oxy bottle from the wrecker, after I get it hydro tested.
Currently planning on heading down next weekend. I will be swinging through Louisville to see Scar51 too. M16ty has an oxygen compressor for me and Scar has a nice airco miget spoolgun kit I got back over the summer.
May I recommend a stock 6.5 fuel pump? The reason I say that is because they will allow fuel to flow if they happen to go out. Some of the electric fuel pumps will not flow fuel if it blows a fuse or craps the bed. Just something to be aware of!
Once you get into it, it should be obvious. Oilpan gets swapped 180*, the oil pump gets swapped, and I believe the trans adapter ring. I put an LDT in where an LDS was and it was very minor differences. PM me your phone number if you'd like to speak to me about the swap.
I brought back a deuce from sitting for years. I ended up having to push the pin out of the assembly and use a scotch-brite pad. I put it back together with some antisieze and its been great ever since.
I'd flip the hubs in the rear to the correct position. If you plan on running singles, that is the way its supposed to be. The wheels will all be in line with each-other. You can also check all your components like bearings, wheel cyls, and brake pad adjustment.
Its probably easier to remove the needless low hanging crap than to shorten wheelbase. 99% of these trucks that have seen real off-roading have the steps wangered. Removing the steps, relocating the batts and fuel to somewhere else will raise your ground clearance considerably.
Spend a day...
I had lots of issues getting my motor started in the cold. Everyone said to swap glow plugs, so I put new ones in- in the fall. Still had issues with cold starts. I had finally had enough and put an aftermarket GP wire harness in. IT WAS AMAZING the difference in start ability. Before I was...
