Special TQG items are getting pricey!

Different part number Identical part Same Amp and Voltage $11 Looks correct to me. OPs pic of $90+ part If it's sold to the Military, then it must be expensive. Hate it when companies do this. They do this in aviation also.

Installed new circuit breaker at the 120v outlets. Have a big bag of Thomas & Betts zip ties. Almost Every zip tie has fallen off due to sitting out in the weather for ??? years. Will take half a day to install all of them. Well......not really, will just seem like it.

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

When I start it up, voltage is fine for a few minutes. Then it creeps up to the higher number in pic. After running for 10-15 minutes it settles down to the lower number shown. If I pull the 15A glass tube fuse, it stops the charging and meter settles down to whatever the battery’s are putting...

Ran Genset after oil change to make sure no leaks. It started right up and all is good with voltage and hz but now Battery meter is bouncing into the red and putting out 35v. Gotta figure that out. No leaks and it’s running better than ever. Getting Close for a load test.

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

So I think I found the trick. Took a Bernzomatic torch and heated up the area that holds the gasket. Just decently warm to the touch. Gasket had been laying in the sun. Then I applied o-ring silicone grease to gasket. Sucker slipped right in no sweat. Then I took empty canister and bolted it up...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Man, That's a FACT! Working up the motivation to go outside and start over. I removed the gasket last night. I have extras. My neck and back are already crying in advance. I should have left the old one in. It wasn't leaking at all. Will be doing the conversion, but want to run this unit more...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Yes. With the help of the TM's, I figured that out this morning. What the TM's don't show is the trick to installing a new oil filter canister gasket. Old one was as hard as a brick. Worked on that sucker for an hour and could never get it completely installed. Always would stretch as you go...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Ok I was way over thinking this. All is good and just the panel hz gauge is bad. She’s a runner and produces power like it’s supposed to!!! All voltages and hz at all the locations are where they’re supposed to be. Told you this was my “first “ Extremely happy and she’s running now to get...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

What I’m trying to figure out with the TMs, is why my voltage is good but Hz low. I have good 120/240 voltage. Charging system is putting out 25.52 volts. But the hz is 48/49 I know I can increase engine speed to raise the hz but that also raises the voltage. All numbers verified by using a...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Pump filters were removed and cleaned. Thought I mentioned it earlier. All 3 are working great and plenty of flow. I screwed up by not cracking the fuel line inlet at the injection pump. This basically jammed air inside is my guess. Initially had fuel at the injectors then nothing. Removed...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Well the easy part is done. Now the hard part is figuring out what supposed to read/do what It was showing 120v at the outlets and 240 on the panel gauge. Hz was 48-49 Increase engine speed to raise HZ and it raised voltage. The glass fuse by the injection pump was blown. Have to get more...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

She lives. Bled the IP again and it started right up. Lots of air was still in the IP Weird part was that there was never any smoke when trying to start it. No smoke when it finally started. Not running well. Had it basically at idle. Brought rpm’s up and it’s smoothed out a lot. Hz meter is...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Well I hooked up a set of heavy jumper cables from the CUCV to the 002a Fuel system finally bled and have fuel coming out of IP fittings including up at the injectors. So far no go. She cranks fine and has good oil pressure but so far nothing. Not even smoke. Fuel shutoff solenoid is working and...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

I went ahead and drained the oil from the pan and filter canister. Oils cheap (compared to engine) and that oil has been in there for years. Will leave filter on there for now. I will do a complete change after/when she runs. She’s almost ready. Making up a connection cable for in between the...

MEP-002A Exhaust Question plus Machine Resurrection

Installed new Fuel hose from IP to check valve. It’s a Cummins part number and included in the pics if anyone needs one. It’s for a 003A I think but works. Also installed new oil pressure gauge. Original one had water and rust inside. Installed clean fuel tank and is hooked up again. 2 pin...
