What did you do to your deuce this week?

A Multi Fuel with fresh filters, fresh injectors, and a turned up IP is plenty of power for my liking. The Deuce is running great!

    Deuce driving tips

"Find some old style wiper motors. Easily rebuilt and work very well. I also don't like the Newer style with the red button. They don't seem to have the same power as the older ones which translates into poor performance at slow speeds. You also need to clean up the air switch. They get clogged...

    " 1952 GMC M135-Old Reliable"

Phildoe!.......................................:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Classic I'm not overly familiar with these trucks, but it dying on right turns is an indicator of an electrical short. I had an 89 Honda civic that would die while making turns, it turns out the cars...

The "While you're in there thread"

This was a success! I just want to say thank you to everyone who put in the effort to help me out. I'm new to this but am eager to learn. Without SteelSoldiers I would have been flying blind, tapping into the endless wealth of experience helped me greatly. The truck shifts nice, the air...

Found fuel in the crankcase and a hard start

The oil in my crank case was due to my injectors being bad (wore out nozzles), weeping fuel into the cylinders then washing down to the crank case. The residual pressure in the post IP injector lines would drip fuel after shut down. Would also explain your smoke issue. Other possible ways to...

    Deuce driving tips

After 6 months of not driving the Deuce, I had forgotten the fact that you need to be on the ball at all times while operating this vehicle. 2 days ago at 530 am while driving to work I was traveling at about 30 mph. The road I was on had a slight down grade, approaching an intersection the...

How often do you tow half a ship with your HET ?

That is a thing of beauty, perhaps I can convince my boss to buy a HET to use around the yard. My Deuce is parked in the parking lot but I don't she has the stones to get the job done. Nice to see a fellow ship builder on steel soldiers! I work for the Washington Corporation, Seaspan North...

    Just bought my first Deuce!!

My parking brake was doing the same. Rust was my problem, split the cable strands then they bound up inside the cable track and seized for the rest of eternity. What you explained above happened to me 3 times before the cable seized up completely.

    M35a2 tandem axle stuck!

What do your dog bones look like?

    No brake Lights

The TM's are your best friend, kneel before them! Looks like you have the older style of fluid actuated switch, prone to fail. You need to purchase the air actuated switch, then install it. Pull the plugs off of the switch them use a jumper wire to bypass it. That will rule out the switch...

M35A2 low power, white smoke & rough idle

When I pulled my heads off I had a similar issue. Although not as bad, mine was on its way there. What happened to the bits of metal fire ring that broke loose?

    No brake Lights

^ this. If it turns out the switch is functioning, check the turn signal switch after. Take it off, take it apart, clean the contacts.

    Obvious differences between engines

1c and 1d have an obvious difference in sound while running. 1c will whistle. As far as removing the paint off the tag, I gave it a light sanding. Then grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. lay the paper over the tag and run the pencil over it, you should be able to see something. My tag...

The "While you're in there thread"

Yes I've done the FDC bypass, I was going to leave it at that but the thing that bothers me is the fact my truck was making oil before I got to work on it. I have eliminated every other source that could have caused it, but I know the IP can also pass fuel into the oil. The only other...

The "While you're in there thread"

Finally have the new clutch in and the trans bolted back up. Everything I wanted to get done I've nearly completed. I have this one nagging thought that keeps bouncing around the inside of me head............................................. Should I dig into the IP? It's the only area I...

    I broke the front axle

That bearing is roasted, you saved yourself a lot of work by changing it out before it welded itself to the spindle. Unfortunately the rest of the bearings on the truck could be in the same condition.
