Yeah this is the juicy stuff.
I'll explore the TM's and look for an exploded diagram of the transmission. That will help me understand how this all fits together. I can't deny TB58's logic here so I'll take the time to figure it out. If these guys are going through the trouble to customise...
Ok I'll read up on the booster pump.
I have my EGT and boost gauges now. Drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold. For the boost probe I'm thinking I'll use 1 of the 2 holes on the air intake pipe leftover from the intake flame heater. I placed a large order for parts from 3 diferent vendors...
New members help to keep this site active and flourishing. The old members support the new, just like a big Ol' family.
I consider myself part of the next generation of old timers, earning my way with greasy TM's, dirty hands, and empty beer cans. Plus I still have the energy to help guys on...
First off I want to thank you guys for all the help and wisdom.
I have the new gaskets installed, I used the copper spray a gasket as recommended. The heads are torqued down to 157lbs as sated in the TM's for a TD block.
My injectors are the 2 hole type and are currently being tested at a...
One Friday on the way home from work I stopped and pulled a tri axle hiab truck and pup trailer out of some sand. The driver of the truck took pictures cause he said his boss wouldn't believe him.
We were holding up traffic so I couldn't get pics. I could feel him trying to brake when I was...
I fabricated 10 foot ramps to load my quad also. People think I'm nuts when they watch me riding up and down them. I cant figure out why.
I built them strong enough to act as traction mats for the truck too if needed.

Front tire not even close to it's rated load capacity, aired down for the logging road, and doing under 50km per hour. Tires are old but with very low miles on them.
The side wall completely blew out, fist size hole. Driver noticed a couple...
I'm currently in the middle of this swap. I went ahead and bought the kit on the popular auction site. Comes with everything you need to do the swap well worth the $140
Are you getting higher temps on the outside of the drum where the shoes make contact?
Or are the higher temps in the center where the bearings are?
After just flipping the hubs, I'm suspicious you may have over torqued the bearings or there is a problem with one of them.
The fact it sat for awhile makes me suspicious of fuel system as a whole or you have a birds nest in your engine air intake.
In this weather my truck fires up if I look at it funny. Air, Fuel, and combustion, one of them is not doing very well.
I'm going to hypothesize based on the information...
Is your FDC bypassed?
Filters clean?
Perhaps you are losing your fuel system prime somehow. Even with the lift pump dead the truck should still start with a little more effort.
Major overhaul taking place right now. I'm hoping to have this all completed for the end of July.
I will update this thread with pics and details when I get closer to being done the job. The list of current tasks underway include:
-Air shift t-case install.
-Clutch replacemnet
-Head Gaskets...
Yeah lifters and push rods in there. Its a good thing I dug in there as I pulled one of the lifters out by accident when I removed a push rod with too much vigor. **** surface tension strikes again.
So while my heads and injectors are at the machine shop, I bypassed my FDC and got everything...
