    And then I had one

Simultaneously making every other humvee slightly more rarer/valuable. My M1114 body at the scrap yard. 610 lbs...got $62 for it.

    Transmission swap RPM issue

So, the 6.5 had some issues, the least of which we discovered that this vehicle had spent some serious time at least partially submerged. There was water in places that weren't meant to have water and it was still there months (years?) later when I took delivery.

    Transmission swap RPM issue

Ok, so, I have a M1097R1. Now, according to the literature and the auction listing it was supposed to have a 6.5l, but it doesn't it has the 6.2l and it's still a 3 speed. Bought a M1114 with a wrecked front end that came with a 6.5l, turbo & 4 speed. The plan was to grab whatever could be...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

New shoes. Method 105 17x8.5 + Yokohama Geolander MT 37x12.5R17. Both were cheaper than replacing the tires alone, in the stock size. They are a little bigger than stock. It's mostly for off-road use.

Bought Someone’s M1078 Camper Project- Seeking Direction on a Couple Issues

Yep, got that. I was just responding to that notion.

Bought Someone’s M1078 Camper Project- Seeking Direction on a Couple Issues

Just curious what you want to use it for, for consideration. This brings me back to my original point - commercially produced RV's use almost paper thin aluminum skins. However, unless you have a local source or deep pockets ACM panels can get very expensive due to shipping. I will probably...

Bought Someone’s M1078 Camper Project- Seeking Direction on a Couple Issues

I would like to point out that what factories do to vans/RV are often driven by cost when they are building thousands. You are building 1. Companies pinch pennies. If a better solution might cost a little more, consider it. You're not reinventing the wheel, you're making a better one. Will...

    Black Hawk

Hope I'm not stepping on the toes of the 1 bidder, who could be on SS. GSA Auctions, General Services Administration, Government Site for Auctions (realestatesales.gov) Buyer is responsible for completing the End Use Certificate and bringing the aircraft into compliance with 14 CFR Chapter or...

    M35A2 expedition mini home

Those steps use a special hinge for the threshold attachment. You can see the cabinet sized version in these pics. The second pic shows how they attach. In order to use their method I would have to buy at least one of their steps (to get the hinge) and modify it. I figure the cost to be...

    What is it?

Maybe I'll mount it where the gunner's seat is, stick some ice in it and keep drinks there.

    What is it?

I thought that was called a "seat".

    What is it?

Can't do a search because I don't know what it is or even where it goes. It was a loose part that was on the floor of a M1114 with a destroyed front end that I bought for parts. The attachment pins are the kind that are somewhat quick release. Obviously, it must go somewhere that you...

    M35A2 expedition mini home

The picture in post #10 shows two fuel tanks standing up - they will be mounted flat. Believe me, water tanks don't cost anywhere near what these did. Post #1 has one of my sub-floor drawings. The fuel tanks are shaded orange in the drawing. The two tanks at the top of the drawing are for...

Fuel tank selector valve - multiple tanks

Thought I would update this thread. Had custom tanks made for the bed. After talking it over with a friend, decided to connect these tanks to the outside tanks with one-way valves & pumps for filling purposes only. These tanks will ride in the bed and be completely hidden. The point being...

Tanks arrived. Not something I can just strap to the roof of my car.

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

The Deuce winch has quite a bit of cable length, and there are ways to run the cable that wouldn't hurt the truck. Though I agree that the truck may not always be in a situation where running the winch cable would be easy. For instance, sitting in 5 feet of water/mud. Though, that poster did...

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

There are pros that will do this sort of thing, you can find shops on the internet. And some of the people on here are certified and/or their trucks never leave their property or see pavement. However, if you're going off road, it won't matter as no insurance will attach to off road anyways...

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

Well, we're still talking theoretical...you could change the hubs. Or just go with a 5 ton to begin with. I bought a Deuce for the fuel mileage because I take long trips and it made sense. If you're designing for off road, maybe you should move away from the M35?

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

A web search comes up with 10x335, and looking at Oshkosh's web page, MRAP Wheel / Rim - Oshkosh Equipment , they also list it as 10x335. If beadlock is important, you might consider this: MRAP 20' ALUMINUM RIM | WESTERN CANADIAN ROCKWELL INC WCR has sold adapter plates in the past. I've...

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

They look similar. Here's the brochure on the M1076.
