One easy option, if you're not set on doing all the work, sell your deuce, take what you can and buy one that already has the upgrades.
It seems that if you're still flushing muck out it, that radiator may be plugged or the thin channels are plugged to a degree that it'll take many flushes to...
I'll be honest here, with a stock deuce, 45-52mph is your cruising speed. Bigger tires allow smaller increments of speed gain until you reach 46" or 395 style of tire, or bigger if the truck is bobbed. With 395's, I can cruise the interstates at 55 mph all day long, 60 for a short bit and...
Sad but true. Us consumers are the quality control/inspector in most cases now with pretty much any thing. While I have only experienced this once or twice with automotive parts, I've built quite a few AR's and quite a few times I would find a safety selector with the detent groove out of spec...
The extra height would be nice. Mine is the standard height so I'm crouching in the back and the worst is if you ever hit your shoulder on those bolts for the bows, that hurts!
It's safe to drive 55mph with these tarps. I leave mine on 100%, too heavy to take on and off. Plus it keeps the groceries dry! Roll up the sides for a canopy if need be which is nice in the summer.
I would definitely repair the tarp if possible, those things aren't cheap, lol. Lock-tite makes...
Thanks! It's hard to tell imo if the truck isn't driven often. The more often it's driven, the easier it is to notice small little changes as they happen. I've noticed as such like you mentioned. Sometimes just certain sounds catch my attention and I realize something is off, such as the time...
I completely understand, I didn't realize there were piston kits, so that's a plus. You recall what the piston kits were going for? Couldn't you just get a loan and put it as a student loan so you don't have to pay it back🤷🤔🤣
Something to consider. My uncle has been working on his suv for the past week at my house (he can't work on vehicles where he lives and his shop told him no as they need space for their equipment), anyways, when he takes a break, we'll shoot the 💩. As we talked about my deuce, I told him it had...
Dry. There's a lot of heat right there, I'm not sure if there's any RTV that would even hold up, since the intake and exhaust is flowing through the turbo.
You can work around them to clean the block. Cover up any port or gap with a piece of stiff paper or use tape if you're scraping pieces of the old gasket off and don't want anything to go into one of those holes/ports.
I usually keep the same side tires on that side. Rotation is about even tire wear, which the steer tires have more wear naturally anyways, so moving front to back and back to front on the same side achieves the same thing. I've had some radials that blew prematurely when rotated to the other...
Welcome to the site and congrats on the truck! Imo, road trips like that are very few and far in between so making a vacation out of it was a great idea! A couple of extra things that may help with the trip, anti fog treatment for the inside of the windows and rain ex for the rain. In a rain...
Depending on the exact type, the stuff I saw on Amazon was $15 for 16oz. I got some aviation plastics and rubber conditioner coming, supposed to offer premium UV protection and re-conditions old plastics and rubber, same manufacturer that owns the 303 stuff. I cleaned my tires real good today...
