With older surplus tires, I wonder if there's a decent product one can use to help keep them from dry rotting. It's common to find tires that are in unused or good condition, but they are usually more than 5 years old. Be a shame to spend a couple grand only for them to last another 3-5 years...
Yeah, that dancing around is what I mean by "play". As long as it's not making contact with anything else, it's fine. If it does and the belt has tension on it, then there's an issue with the pulley or possibly even a defective belt.
Mine did that. I had to drain the air tanks, pump the break while the air tanks were recharging and no issues since. My guess is either the vent for the air pack to bleed off is blocked/plugged, or the air pack is going bad. Maybe see if you can get under there and see if it's clean around the...
For your area and region, I think some primer/paint and carpet is fine. I can see black or OD green looking pretty sharp. In other states with lots of rain or snow, especially if salt or liquid de-icer is used, then I wouldn't. Perhaps at that point, truck bed coating or something similar would...
I went with the newer gasket style years back and my engine had the original style when the gasket blew. I reused the same studs as well because they were seized in place and I only had so much time so I chanced it and luckily it worked out. The studs were cleaned with PB blaster and a wire...
All the tires dry rotted like that? If so, I'd look into replacing all of them just to be in the safe side, otherwise you'll start having flats here and there (or blow outs where the tire just explodes and shreds apart damaging what's around it) and it may be at very inconvenient times, place,or...
NDT is correct. However, you do not want to over tighten that belt which will stretch it further. There's not a lot of tension on the air compressor pulley like there is on the other pulleys which have two belts so a little play acceptable.
So.... it's gotten real quiet in here from the three campaigns.... I'm guessing one of the three letter alphabet boys finally stepped in after their popcorn was gone....😉🤣
The adapter plates fit on the inside of the MRAP rims as shown below. You can do the A3 style of rims for the bigger tires, the MRAP rims with adapter plates,or the stock rims with 11x20's. I wouldn't through the 395's on the stock rims though, it's a really tight fit for the wider tire and I'm...
When I blew the head gasket in my old deuce, I printed off the section of the TM that I needed. That worked so much better than using my phone. leaving little side notes really helped too, especially on where I put things and the size of wrench/socket needed. The other notes that helped a lot...
If possible, you can print the TM's and put each one in a binder so you have some physical paper to look at, but it's hundreds of pages! The operators manual is definitely helpful, but typically newer owners or those with less experience working on a deuce need to have some guidance or help to...
I've only heard of this, never seen it happen. I have yet to see off road diesel. REC gas, yes, but that's priced between midgrade and premium. It's also what is typically used for most generators and small gas powered equipment as ethenol tends to make them run less efficient. I could care less...
Welcome to SS! Sounds like the truck will be a fun RV project. The TM's will definitely be of great use as far an operators manual and troubleshooting guide.
When this happens, any of your brakes seem stuck or will the truck still move freely? Does the brake pedal feel harder or depress less after it's been pressed and the lights are stuck on? Is there slop in the pedal afterwards?
