Bulbs--i just received a supply of 24v bulbs--two different types--from an Amazon retailer. Ten bulbs for about ten bucks. This is a significant savings from the usual suppliers (who, of course, must maintain their own inventory).
Just search by the bulb number.
While I don't have a wire recommendation for you, I can offer some thoughts on my experience with similar issues.
My stock M37 had been under cover for most of its life. When beginning a rebuild last year, I discovered many problems with the wiring--most of it was age-related rot and cracking...
Maybe to wrap up all of these great remarks....my Dad told me decades ago, "Son, things are easy to buy!" He didn't have to elaborate about the other half of the transaction.
Good morning, congratulations, and welcome to the forum. There are people here with a great deal of knowledge and experience. Don't be shy about asking any questions.
I owned on of these models for several years until I decided to downsize a bit.
If you already have a CDL and are proficient...
Some other differences but unsure whether just production changes or formally part of the B1 variant:
Later models have a more rounded two part air cleaner; the older version has a 3 part system using 3 clamps with wing nuts to hold down the cover rather than a single nut in the center of the...
Good morning,
I recently replaced the brakes on my truck using off the shelf brake tools including brake spring pliers. Doubtless, tools vary in quality.
Good mnemonic device. Thank you.
My B1 mystery deepens in that my truck has (had) the Douglas connectors. I'm replacing with a new harness with Douglas. So, it seems that at least some early B1s were hybrids until early parts inventory was exhausted.
Does anyone have information on that front?
Thanks for the correction, Rory.
Yes:
Metal shell wire connectors are Douglas.
Rubber are Packards.
Things are confusing enough sometimes in this hobby without some careless post like mine making things worse. :censored:
We might be getting in the weeds a bit with this one. I haven't been able to find a definitive comprehensive list of differences between the base original M37 and the B1 variant, so I thought I'd "crowdsource" the information.
I have found that Dodge shifted to B1 production in April, 1958. My...
The ORD 9 indicates two gaskets required.
One is part of the element assembly with cover and crimped gasket.
The other (and that which I believe you are referring) is the elbow to air cleaner gasket (a circle shape) located within the element and seals the element to the oil bath cleaner on...
Production shifted to B1s in April, 1958. It appears that for a while, Dodge used up existing parts stock from the basic M37 inventory.
f I'm not mistaken, the B1s were modified to include a staple such that the door could be secured with a padlock. My B1 (October 1958) has a rather crude...
Some might say that sort of thing about other people's wives. :giggle:
Anyway, the cab came already installed on the truck. It's beautiful in its own special way. Like other people's wives.
On online search turned one up somewhere at an undisclosed location. At least mine has the...
My 1942 has a hard cab. It appears to be a professional depot level installation. I bought the truck in the early 80s near Hesperia, CA. Because it's painted (faded) a Navy gray or light blue color, I think it likely came out of China Lake NWS.
Does anyone have information about the hard cab...
The upper end of the crankcase ventilation line attaches to the center of the intake. If the intake manifold is filling up with fuel caused by, say, a stuck float in the carburetor, then yes.
If actually installed on your truck, the line attached to the intake manifold runs through the...
Good morning,
What you have circled above is the fitting which connects the crankcase ventilation line to the cylinder block. It's part of the vent lines for the water fording system. The seepage in the photo is engine oil. Nothing to worry about.
An indispensable resource for proper...
Hello all,
My son-in-law is in Delta Junction all week on a business trip. Both of us own M37s, and he'd be interested in meeting members who reside there. I seem to recall at least one person from Delta Junction on this site, but I can't find the thread(s) or address that he posted. Does...
Hello all,
I'm aware of at least 2 different types of jerry cans: one type has a "screw top" lid; the other has an "overcenter" lid with an handle.
Can anyone advise which one would have been typical for the M37? Thanks for the help.
