This is an interest of mine, which I have been working on in stages:
1) Blending solvents with waste oils to make diesel fuel, which requires solving a number of filtration, and solubility problems. This has been built, and running for 10 years.
2) Fractionation, built about 5 years ago.
3)...
I appreciate this thread, rustystud, because it is very timely, as my injector pump is toast. A list of viton seals, or a viton kit would be useful, as my IP died after someone dumped 30 gallons of waste gasoline into my deuce's fuel tank. I did not notice it until the waste gasoline had...
I run an alternative fuels forum, and there have been a few people on that forum who claim that they have successfully run blends of WVO and gasoline on common rail engines. Otherwise we have lots of people claiming success on a wide range of older diesel engines. The Ford 7.3 PSD is famous...
I am not sure why this thread is in alternative fuels, unless the OP is burning alternative fuels. If the OP is burning alternative fuels, then this thread is very relevant here.
I burned vegetable oil blended with gasoline at 80%WVO to 20% gasoline for 10 years last month on a 6.2 n/a diesel...
It turns out that I did not need a gear puller. I found the gear will shimmy out as long as I had some grip on it. I bent 2 pieces of 1/8" dia. wire into a U-shape with sharply bent corners. I used one leg as a handle, and the other leg I inserted between the gear teeth and the housing, then...
Thanks. It is nice to know that I need a gear puller. It would be useful to know what make, model, or size worked. I noticed that there is not a lot of room to work in. It looks like the gear puller will need to be about 5" wide and the screw no more than 5"long.
It looks like Jeeagle has everything. I happen to be in the middle of retiming my deuce IP. It is a 1969 M756a2. Along the way I found the harmonic balancer had delaminated, so that I could not depend upon the alignment marks for aligning the pump. Since your deuce is a year older, then it...
If you are only interested in increasing the lubricity of ULSD diesel, then probably 10% waste oil would provide all the lubricity needed to compensate for the loss of lubricity in ULSD diesel fuel.
I have been using the whole house style filters made by Pentek for about 10 years. I have happy with them, except if you run gasoline-waste oil blends, like I do, then the alcohol in the blend will cause these polypropylene filter housing to swell. So, when you go to change the filter, then...
Interesting. I have been in dialog with waste oil burners for over 10 years, and have never heard of this issue. What I do hear is WATF and waste hydraulic oil (WHO) are best to burn on a diesel engine, because they do not require heating or blending to run as fuel, they just require...
It depends upon how you run it. Presumably you are going to blend it with a petroleum distillate. If you are blending with ULSD diesel fuel, and running it on a vintage diesel engine, then I would not run any greater that 50% ULSD diesel fuel, because I have found that ULSD diesel fuel over...
Since this is a vintage surplus military vehicle site, then the question as to what material was used when for construction of fuel tanks for diesel vehicles could be an interesting pursuit, but it would be another thread.
I know the difference between Galvanized Steel, uncoated Steel, stainless steel and aluminum. My 1969 Keiser Jeep M756A2 definitely has a Galvanized Steel fuel tank. So, does my 1983 G-20 Chevy van.
Originally the engine just would not start one day. I had noticed a leak from the 12pt plug on the side of the IP had gotten much worse, but I was in the middle of moving. The truck ran for about 2 weeks after the move, then would not start.
So, I worked on the leak, and fixed it, and it...
I am going to focus on cleaning out the fuel tank, and lift pump screen as recommended above, because it is clear to me my deuce was not serviced in 40 years. I have also been burning vegetable oil in it, and I can see fat accreted to the walls of the fuel tank. So, I will put a drain valve in...
Thanks, guys, this makes a lot of sense, because the deuce fuel tank is galvanized, and I have noticed that high melting point triglycerides had precipitated out of my WVO fuel blends coating the tank thickly with grease. So, I plan to pull the lift pump out of the tank, and inspect and clean...
Thank-you for your suggestions. I just recalled that I see no movement of fuel though the transparent return lines when the fuel pump is on, or when cranking the engine. Perhaps this indicates a block in the return line, which might be preventing proper fuel flow?
