    Lssv cucv

I have a regular CUCV, 1986. I bought an eBay 6.5 from a 2001 C3500 truck because it had most of the brackets to support dual alternators and AC. I still have dual alternators now. There is a company that makes pigtails to plug the 27SI connectors into the CS130 so everything else was plug and...

    Lssv cucv

I converted my M1008 to serpentine belt. I couldn't find a CS130 alternator in isolated ground so I drilled out the mounting holes and installed plastic sleeves and Garolite washers. Those look like CS130 alternators in the LSSV.

Are any of the alternators isolated ground?

M1114 What to look for running 6.5 turbo first time?

The 6.5 engine is louder than the turbo. Don't expect to hear much. If you can install a boost gauge that will tell you if the turbo is working. Expect around 7 psi at full power. If you can spin the turbo by hand it's probably good. If it doesn't perform start looking for exhaust leaks.

Transfer leaking / looking for seal

If you ever need seals and have dimensions start here: https://www.skfextranet.com/crsealsfinder/ Any of the seals here will work. 18584 is Viton and will last longer.

    Reusable hydraulic fittings on wreckers

The field attachable fittings are more expensive but lately my local hose shops have been charging $60-90 to crimp a hose. In this case the field attachable can often become the less expensive option. One thing to keep in mind is that the field attachable fittings are only available for braided...

    Reusable hydraulic fittings on wreckers

The fittings you have described are the Parker 20 and 22 series field attachable fittings.

    Water Pump Broken Bolt

Loctite 515 is correct. Anaerobic sealants are superior to silicone but don't work for sheet metal. Use silicone for your oil pan and valve covers. Use anaerobic sealants everywhere else.

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I can confirm that the radiator support on my 1986 is zinc coated.

    Water Pump Broken Bolt

You can get a wood dowel or metal rod and put a dab of super glue on it and use that to try to unthread the piece of bolt. The left hand drill bit isn't actually meant to remove the bolt, it's just sometimes the bolt is so loose that it comes out instead of getting drilled. You'll still want to...

    Water Pump Broken Bolt

If you overtightened the bolt and broke it, the price left in the hole will not be tight. Take the water pump off, grab the piece with your fingers, and unscrew it. Do not run the engine with the broken bolt because the piece can run inwards and get into the timing chain/gears.

    Center mount Turbo M1008

It has a duckbill valve for draining water. So they have to be oriented accordingly. Good news, they can be ordered with both orientations. I think I went with the D080056 V. They're only rated for 50hp but that gives room for clogging. The housings are $150 with filter. The rest of the intake...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I have a NOS grill for the Canadian CUCV which has the round headlights. That would get you one step closer.

    Center mount Turbo M1008

I have not insulated my cab yet so all I hear is the rattle from the back of the engine. With that said, I don't notice any drone. The air filter housing doesn't have any noise baffles or anything but it does have a primary and backup element as well as pre-swirl separators so there are a few...

    68 Unimog 404 Restomod

Spark plugs can't be cleaned. When they foul they get carbon tracks burned into the insulator. You might be able to clean a plug and get it to run but it won't run right. There are many habits that need to be broken. Don't clean carburetor jets either. Running wires through them resizes the...

    Wheel bearing pre load

There is no preload. You tighten it and then back off until the next pin on the washer aligns. It's a rigid assembly so any movement backing off will add clearance. Tapered roller bearings want to see 0.001-0.003" of clearance. This applies almost universally. The thread pitch of the nut and the...

    Containers for wmo/wmo mix

Polypropylene plastic handles fuels just fine. Electrostatic discharge is a concern when using non-conductive containers. Most plastics will discolor from fuel (remember brown gas tanks on dirt bikes from the 1990's?). This does not indicate any deterioration of mechanical strengths.

Since you're willing to spend the money send it to these guys. https://maps.app.goo.gl/NDvGBmiB9YJ9oHd49 They'll get you turned around in about a week.

    Gen 1

Gen 1 does not need to be isolated. I converted my truck to serpentine and CS130 alternators. The CS130 is not available in isolated ground. For the Gen 2 position I drilled out the mounting holes and installed plastic sleeves and used Garolite washers to isolate the entire alternator body. For...

    Tire pressure

I've got 37x12.5r17 tires on mine. 35 psi works well for regular driving. Lower pressure helps prevent death wobble if you've got other issues in the suspension.
