I let it run for 20 or 30min and kept an eye on the engine temp with a heat gun. Pretty sure the thermostat opened up, heater was working.
Lower rad hose still feels squishy, like it has air trapped in it. Any suggestions, or do I just keep an eye on it and wait for the air pocket to work it's...
Managed to get the block heater installed, and the lower rad hose replaced. Standing on my head while under the hood wasn't pleasant.. not the easiest thing to work on.
Still waiting for a temp gage in the mail, but I believe she is back up and running.
First thing I replaced was the temp sending unit.. spare parts aren't so bad. I have a few bulbs now myself, napa insist I buy the whole box.
New gage is on the way
Due to the length of the cable i can't put my multimeter on both ends. But I checked for resistance at the sending unit, and at the end of the wire going into the gage and the reading was the same. 6 - 7ohms at ambient temp.
Ground strap from motor to cab looks good. I didn't check the battery...
I followed the troubleshooting instructions in the TM.
The sending unit when in hot water is down to 2.5ohms. Ambient temp it's sitting at 6 or 7 ohms. I measured it at where the wire plugs into the gage, as well as directly from the sensor and the ohm reading was the same. So it appears...
Ok so I pulled out the multi meter.. temp guage is getting 24volts from the accessory switch. The ground has good continuity, and the temperature sending unit is currently sending out 6.8ohms.
I didnt put temp sending unit in hot water, to verify the ohms changed, but I think I have to assume...
Gotcha, I seen the shorter wire going to I guess the accessory switch. So that should have power coming from it, and the other plug goes all the way to the temp sending unit.
Thanks. Perhaps that will be my next move, splice into the wire at the sending unit and run it to the guage
I removed the panel, checked the grounds. Unplugged it, and plugged it back in..
I kept the old sending unit, perhaps I can put it in some hot water and use it to test with until I get...
It passed the inspection with no issues!
Looks like the rpm guage sorted itself out.. now to figure out the temperature guage.
I did make it home with it, the old girl ran flawlessly.
After getting home i opened up the hood, noticed some coolant had leaked. Upoj further inspection it looks...
Thanks, hopefully the shop will figure it out for me. I haven't much faith, but he did say they had worked on a deuce or two.
Not sure guages are required to pass an inspection, but I guess I will find out tomorrow.
So.. putnthe new temperature sending unit in, and my rpm guage started acting up.
It was off.. then by the time u made my way around to the passenger side to check the transmission fluid it was working.
I drove it about 40miles, rpm guage would come and go..
Temperature guage still not...
One thing that quit working over the winter is the temperature guage.. I ordered a temperature sending unit.
Anyone be able to tell me where it is located?
I believe gl-4 for the transfer case.. due to yellow metals.
Gl-5 does better in the differentials, but is not acceptable for transmission or transfer case.
Hello guys,
Just to make sure I go with the correct gear oil.. 80w90 gl-5 is what I want?
I found a 5 gal bucket for a decent price.
