    Where's the HEAT !!

Mine works fine even after I replaced the original brass and copper one with an aftermarket aluminum one. I was disappointed with the appearance of the newer part as it was half the thickness of the old part. It installed just fine and will run you out of the truck from the heat once the...

M54A2 air pack bleed screw size?

You must have never made him mad. Try calling him a name or two. I'm being silly, send him a message.

Would a M35A2/LDT465 parts manufacturing business be successful?

I'd think there would be a somewhat limited market. I think people who plan on keeping these trucks on the road for many years to come have already bought up the parts they think they will need. I have a friend one city over that has 3 spare engines, 2 spare transmissions and who knows what...

    Pinion brakes

Opinions tend to be formed one or two ways. Some people have been around stuff and have a good idea as to how it's going to work out without actually trying it. We'll call this group A for this discussion. Some people have ideas of how they think something should work and form opinions based...

    Mild Power Adders

I rode in dually M1028 that member Stonepicker had one year. Truck had a 6.2 in it and that thing was "woke up"! I'm sure he bumped up the pump and the truck responded well. He got sideways on a dirt road at about 30 mph. He also had a Banks sidewinder kit and installed it on the passenger...

Small fire in the 5 ton M923

I've had the exact same thing happen before. My issue probably was not as bad because I had two old group 31 batteries installed and they must not have had enough juice to burn up the seat. Alot of smoke filled the cab, I jumped out and disconnected the negative cable under the passenger seat...

    M939 Winter Storage

Negative Simp, I'm going to run it hard after the line and filter swap. Probably about 1/100 of the duty cycle you run yours at but 2 hours of hard running on fresh fuel should make this old Cummins happy!

    M939 Winter Storage

I'm going on a shopping trip in the morning. New fuel filter, rubber lines, and such for the 5 ton. Good thing I still have the CUCV around for slave cable power if it takes too long to prime and crank. I also need to pick up a belt and some new light bulbs for the Tahoe so both lights are on...

Advice Needed on Troubleshooting Brakes, Please!

How is your power steering pump? Turn the steering wheel and see. Unlike a gasser powered truck, these have a hydraulic powered brake booster which gets it's assist from the power steering system instead of vacuum. I know when I was going through fueling issues which would cause mine to stall...

How much can a 5 ton tow?

The heaviest load I pulled with my M923A1 was a stacked set of M322 trailers. They weigh around 12,500 each, no clue of tongue weight on the pintle but we rolled along just fine once up to speed. Most of the trip was run at around 60 mph but we did get knocked back to 50 or so in some hills in...

Need a M35A2 hauled from Charlotte NC to Warner Robins Ga in next 30 days

I'd recommend contacting SS member Simp5782. He hauls quite a bit of stuff and could likely meet your timeline. His phone number is in his signature line but just in case, 901-318-8353. He responds to text much quicker than calls.

*Feeler* I'm looking at rebuilding cucv alternators and eventually starters

I had my M1028 CUCV starter rebuilt by a local shop about 4 years ago after the mounting bolts backed out and it broke it's nose cone. He charged 80 dollars to replace the nose cone and brushes. I'm not sure what he had tied up in parts as I'm not in the business but I thought he did it for...

One Pallet from Albany GA to Park City UT?

I can pick it up after work one day. I have no experience in shipping anything, I'm more of a get it and hold it until you arrange shipping guy. If I can help, I'd be happy to, I just need the release invoice e-mailed to joseph.carson@usmc.mil

    Possible air compressor failure M925A2

I hope it works but I'm worried you'll be in the same boat soon. Mine was working fine until I sprayed some solvent in the unloader line. After taking the head off and cleaning everything, I feel certain I will be fine for years to come. I was amazed by how much carbon junk was inside the...

    Possible air compressor failure M925A2

I agree tobyS. I called myself doing some preventative maintenance to my truck by oiling the head of the compressor with PB Blaster through the unloader line. A few drives later and I had the dreaded no air pressure issue. Turns out whatever gunk was available was loosened by the solvent...

    Are M818 axles lockers?

big block, Yours is sitting on the passenger seat of my Trans Am, it'll be in the mail during my lunch break tomorrow. It looks just like the one in the picture that was posted. It may not make it in time for Christmas but it'll get there. I stated earlier that it was hit or miss which...

M923A2 - Are all 4 Batteries required to start the engine?

I start an engine nearly twice the size with two batteries. Anything under 50 degrees requires about 30 seconds of cranking for the NHC-250. I've read the 8.3's in the A2's are much easier starting so I'm sure you'll be fine with two batteries so long as they are 750 CCA or above.

    M939 with tac4

I've never heard of a MTVR1 or MTVR2. All production trucks are 6X6, all cargos have dropside ISO beds and all variants are powered by a C12 engine.

    M939 with tac4

The finished product looks very similar! Not sure of the powertrain on the prototypes, they settled on a CAT C12, Allison transmission and a single speed transfer case. It's a beast of a truck.

    Are M818 axles lockers?

Blake, Just the same air toggle switch every other M939 series truck has to engage the front drive on the transfer case. I'll do a double check on a tag picture tomorrow. I image searched google and realized I told a fib in the earlier post. The M915 series trucks have a yellow sticker...
