Help - Water drained from rear oil pan plug

From the picture it appears that the fuel line and electrical connection for the flame heater are in place.

Help - Water drained from rear oil pan plug

Oh, if the return lines are that hard, then they will also be brittle. Do yourself a favour and replace them with 1/4" DOT air line while you are at it. DOT line holds up to diesel just fine. The original lines are nylon/polyamide if you are a purist. Super simple to do and it takes away the...

Help - Water drained from rear oil pan plug

While the finding of water is disconcerting, you were in fact super diligent and discovered that before running the engine for any extended length of time. That most certainly avoided further complications. A headgasket failure where coolant enters the oil stream results in oil becoming...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yup, unfortunately that is very common with these frames. I don't look at mine, so I do not have that problem. No, seriously, I rehabbed mine a few years ago and they are almost due for the next round. I tried sealing the glass/frame interface with clear silicone to prevent water from seeping...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Windshield Glass Dimensions: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/windshield-dimensions.80639/#lg=post-1163893&slide=0 Re fiberglass tops...you need to talk to the vendors and see what they are willing to do. I do not claim to be current on the latest pricing; they may have skyrocketed for...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

@pitpawten my thoughts are - there are still auto glass places that actually cut laminated glass themselves. The Deuce windshields are flat and as easy to make as it gets. A place that cuts glass for construction equipment etc. would be best because they can hook you up with the rubber strips as...

    Barn find, M35A3?

Not to hijack but I echo the "do not allow stupidity to get a foothold" when it comes to the powers that be in the registration office. I got them to accept the short VIN, I got them to accept a US title and import documentation, I navigated the "which colour is it? Green/brown/, black. No, the...

    Finally got me a deuce!

I cannot say I have ever seen a set for the M35A3. The cut would have to be different compared to the A2 as well. They fitted the arctic heaters in the M35A3 as well ( the ones that roast you even with the windows open). A competent upholsterer or commercial tarp guy could be able to measure...

    Barn find, M35A3?

If the box on the back is original, it is likely a related M35A2 variant, such as an M109A3. With these van trucks, the M35A3 related van truck would be an M109A4. We'd love to see pics of your barn find. Also, is there a turbo on the passenger side of the engine or is it a "skinny exhaust...

    Barn find, M35A3?

Dash tags aside, the M35A3 has a very characteristic front end, with headlights on the fenders. The A3 has a Caterpillar engine (often yellow) adorned with stickers to that effect. In the cab, an A3 will have a shift lever for an automatic transmission. All that should help you identify an A3...

    Deuce Rough Terrain Limitations

Great pic! I learned that I want to hook the winch cable up high before I explore water holes. That way I can step out of the cab onto the fender, grab the hook, chain and cable and toss it to the friendly person on dry land. Turns out, winching is more fun when it does not start with me being...

    Finally got me a deuce!

Sounds right. The ground is provided by the lock screws that hold the gauge cluster to the dash. They often corrode a bit. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

Amount of oil draining through rear drive axle tube

When you lift up one side of the axle to just above level, hardly any mess ensues. Put a rag there anyway. Maybe a cup of oil, tops. Sent from my SM-G991W using Tapatalk

    Daryl’s Deuce Resto

Of course, to be military accurate, you would need to remove those blankets from the wheels to get original-looking paint overspray on the tires and also maybe throw a hand or two of sand into the wet paint! ;-)

    Mlvw finally acquired

The winch on the MLVW is a PullMaster S10 hydraulic winch, usually made in Canada, with 10t capacity. There is a guy in Saskatchewan that dismantles MLVWs and he has some for sale for about CDN $1600 , including cable. The transmission is an Allison MT643.
