Guyfang,
It's great to see you are a moderator now. A guy with lots of common sense is a perfect candidate. You have shown you have a ton of common sense.
The OEM well nuts are a huge PITA. You will save yourself future grief if you follow the advice in the "ultimate well nut repair" by Boatman 69 and buy the brass fitting that he recommends.
Just to finalize. I installed the dual Noco charger and receptacle that LTD recommended . It fits on the wall where the inverter was. I also converted the exhaust to horizontal. The muffler adapter fits a 3 inch hole saw hole perfectly.
I just finished the final electrical connections. There were a few minor hiccups but as usual Kurt immediately guided me through any issues. I am pretty handy but I am a complete dud when it comes to electronics. Kurt made it easy.
The generator is fantastic. It is way smoother operating than...
I just finished installing the Alt Mecc head on my 831A. I haven't finished the electrical connections but the Alt Mecc gen head fits perfectly and is a breeze to couple with the Yanmar engine following Kurt's instructions. It is not a matter of if the OEM inverter is going to fail it is when.
I bought a 15 hr MEP803A for a very reasonable price expecting the worst and it turned out all it needed was a fuel tank sensor. Every generator I have purchase needed repair. Some major some minor. I can't see any validity in the low hour vs high hour argument. It is a total crap shoot. Bid...
Kurt,
After I install your controller I will have a spare inverter that works only when battle short is on. I seem to remember you thinking that the problem with the inverters was that they weren't potted properly. Is it worth drying them out and potting them? I could use it as a spare on my...
I use whatever is on sale. I want an additive that adds lubricity because of todays low sulphur fuels and an antigel. I don't worry about algae because it isn't warm enough up here to worry about it and my farm tank gets refilled every 8 to 12 months. Right now I'm using Kleenflo diesel fuel...
My supplier tells me the HHO comes out of the same tank as diesel. I do add additives when my farm tank is filled. Since I'm in Canada this may not be true in America.
I have a MEP 831A at my camp. It is wired 220 through a generator subpanel. I use it to power my submersible well pump, water heater and refrigerator. I had to replace the heater elements with 3000W elements but otherwise with proper load management it does a great job. When the water heater...
I poured a good 6-8" pad with 2 " Sm insulation under it because of winter temps here. I set the gen directly on the pad with no stall mat. I left the d rings , exhaust flap, door hardware etc. It doesn't vibrate at all. I marked the skid position 4 years ago when I installed it and it...
I don't think you can get power with the voltage change door open. Kurt would know for sure. Opening it just allows the motor to run without power so you can dry out the inverter.
I guess my generator is an odd one. I can start it and run it without disconnecting the plug when it shows the short fault. I also remember some one posting way back when that if you open the little door on the top of the inverter that allows access to 120 vs 220 it can be started when the...
